[Proposal] Afghan National Army

I got this idea while going through some wikipedia stuff, and I propose adding the afghan national army as a small faction, there is really not much work to do I belive as you have already most of the the weapons modeled. A scenario with ANA forces fighting taliban I believe would be realistic.
AFAIK you also have a ANA technical modeled and textured, so you could maybe use that to.

Here a small list of ANA weaponary (found this info on wikipedia btw)

* M9 pistol
* AKM 7.62 x 39 mm
* AK-47 7.62 mm
* AK-74 5.45 mm
* Chinese Type 56 7.62x39mm assault rifle
* RPK Light Machine Gun
* PK 7.62 mm Machine Gun
* Dragunov SVD 7.62 mm

Special forces weapons: * M16A2 5.56 mm Assault Rifle
* M4 Carbine 5.56 Carbine Rifle
* Colt Canada C7 5.56 mm Assault Rifle
* M249 SAW 5.56 mm
* M240 machine gun 7.62 mm

We have a ANA spawnkit in the Dutch Faction, he gets a AK-47 and grenades + knife.

Most of the time IRL when the ANA come into contact with the Taliban they are fighting along side a coalition force. So i dont really see why we would make a whole new faction for it.

what about , as in near future, the SL is british/american/whatever kit? make some shit up like war in afghan going well, ANA working primarily on there own with little support ect

As has been said, they are working with Coalition forces so wouldn't exactly be realistic. Maybe as kits like in the Dutch Forces Community mod, but not a seperate faction IMO.

No maybe not, but they should be bigger than just one kit in the dutch forces mod, right? And as you have the weapon models, maybe just reskining taliban forces is needed. But iam not a community developer so im maybe not the appropriate person to state that... :)

ANA soldiers dont look like Taliban insurgents they are a regular army, they look more like MEC them like a insurgent.

I'd rather see ANA being a faction and having 2 coalition spawnkits with them. On another hand, Coalition could have one or two ANA spawnkits for A-stan maps.

Anyhow, ANA kits would add a new dimension to Taliban-Coalition warfare maps, and add a certain realism too. :D

ALright but what skin will u use for ANA in dutch forces? But still, I fear that a guy carrieng an AK47, grenades+knife will be very unpopular, will he have any advanteges? I was hoping that you would add an ANA machinegunner to the limited kits in dutch forces.(BTW cant wait to play dutch forces in PR, keep up the good work glimmerman:wink :)

I beg to differ, I often see coalition guys pickup Insurgent kits when plahying maps like Ramiel, because it excels for any CQC short range encounter.
I don't think it's possible to add faction-specific request kits without adding a kit for every other faction (the T-rose isn't faction specific). Hence why I'd recommend having ANA forces be auxiliary spawn kits. There being a lack of ANA kits to spawn with, you could give them armories in their HQ (Some camp/building on a map) that spawn different kit loadouts for ANA players.

One problem about making an Afghan National Army faction is the language of it. Try finding suitable voices to speak in Dari (Persian) or in Pashto. ;)

One question... Is the new Taleban faction going to have new voices based on their true language or they'll still talk in Arab (Which is not spoken in A-stan)?

If you check our player skins you will see a tanned player in a woodland camo, thats our ANA skin.

This cant be done unfortunatly, you can only have 3 sets of voices per faction: Commander, Squad Lead and Squad Member witch in our case will all be Dutch.

Oh yeah I'm aware of this incovenient. It's expectable that players using the ANA kit will speak in dutch if this kit is included in the dutch faction.

The work on a Pashto based voices would have been necessary IF a whole ANA faction was made. Plus... the Taleban faction that is coming soon should also have such set of voices instead of the MEC arab voices.

Yep, those are the ones, they have changed allready though since these dont look that real.
