Challanger sounds

Post by nick20404 »

Was watching some videos and came across this, Noticed it had some great sound quality, Idk how you guys how to get the sounds in game if you can cut them out of videos etc, But I noticed the the challenger in game sounds nothing like this, The gun sounds more like your popping a huge paper bag, With the distinctive echo afterwords, I think it sounds allot better then the current sounds.

Also the engine idle sound is allot lower then the in game which is quite loud even when your not in the tank. I know someone is going to say those are not the right sounds because some cameras can't capture loud sounds properly but it sounds pretty much the same at all distances close and far.

Also the smoke screen challengers use is more of a exhaust type rather then the projectile smoke as seen in this video.

Smoke generator has been discussed, but I don't think you should increase the engine sound too much, crewman wear special headsets to deal with the sound and if it gets too loud you won't be able to hear your squadmates over voip.

lol the gun fire sound is a lot smaller than you would suspect. Nothing like the big bang we got in PR :P

But the problem with these sounds I think (no sound engineer) is that its to far away and cluttered by the talking men. You can clean that up though. Not sure what the quality will be.

How much of that is the sound engineer turning down the sound so not to blow his mic :)

Listen to the engine noise - the real thing is pretty thunderous. Far too quiet on that video. Nice watch though :D

only found one on google.
Conbat Anti-Tank Gun, 1954
This type of gun was introduced into service in 1954 and was capable of knocking out any enemy armoured vehicle at that time. It was designed for use by weapon companies of Infantry Battalions and could be towed behind a landrover. It was also air portable. The gun fired a 120mm calibre projectile to a maximum range of 1,100 metres. When the gun was fired the noise level was over 200 decibels. A distance of over 270 metres to the rear of the gun had to be kept clear because of back blast.
know it's not the CH2 but 120mm same size and 200decibels would be loud.
