yep, and there are models of them bumping around

iirc a MA said they'd basically be like APC HEAT shells, but with the drop of grenades

sounds like a fine asset to have

There was multiple suggestions and discussions about it (including my own)... I remember omg-it-will-wtfbbq-rape-infantry attitude back in the days :D

It would be nice to have it on some maps :)

Probably for PR 0.9, from what Rhino said, it's one of the next things they're working on for after .85 and the Mk19 model is already done, just needs UV mapping, skinning, importing and coding.. Then needs to get added on a HMMWV turret.. or even your run of the mill RAF chinnok :D
Dunno about the other equivalents, none have been made yet.

Well, anyway.. *whistles*

dont think that anything like that will happen, since the jeeps should only be used for recon and not for combat anymore according to the devs

Yes, but I guess it doesn't include specialized jeeps like TOW hmmvee for example. Jeeps with AGLs can be used on future asymmetrical maps just like TOW hmmvee is on qwai river today 8)

We could leave it in as a simple discussion - we know it's been suggested already, and we now know it's being worked on, so why not leave the discussion open?

I'd be interested, but I don't know the specifics. Can you find links about the subject to confirm the reasons for the suggestion?

Also, list how this will affect gameplay, both good and bad, and how we can avoid the bad. If you follow these steps, you will get much more attention and support, as well as lead the disussion the way you want.

good - powerful asset that is used IRL
good - the model is done, and there are vehicles to mount it on once its finished the dev process
good - it has a different dynamic than a 50cal because of grenade drop, making it interesting for gameplay
Good - the jeeps have been reportedly removed to some extent apart from insurgency maps, at least this will give the jeeps some limelight back

bad - it may indeed be too powerful
bad - humvee doesnt need crewmen, so this powerful asset may become abandoned etc
bad - people will do their generation kill impersonation (but I also have to resist saying "we're oscar mike!")
bad - current balance could be affected, requiring lots of work and thought on where the mk19 hummer is appropriate (I mean balance in all its forms, symmetrical/asymmetrical)

some solutions
- Strict overheat; you can't just unload this thing you have to fire in bursts as it will overheat. (I dunno how fast they overheat IRL, but maybe call it protecting against wear and tear from the operational envirmonment or somthing)
- Ammo restrictions; you get a powerful asset, but you gotta get back to reload alot
- Jeep cannot drop ammo?

The ammo restriction is probably good enough. Of course, the HMMWV can't resupply itself with its small ammo crates, and an overheat is just a very artificial way of forcing the player to fire in bursts, which any good gunner would do anyway.

I wouldn't mind a crewman requirement to man the Mk. 19 or TOW, either.

Doesn't the Vodnik have some kind of mounted AGL or 9M117 missile launcher to counter the Mk. 19 and TOW HMMWV, respectively?

Who says it has to be on a Humvee. You could put it on a Stryker. Everybody who's saying it's overpowered need to remember that most APC's fire HE shells too! How come they aren't 'overpowered' and the Mk. 19 is? I think the name is the scariest part. The latest BMP-3 in the dev journal is firing 30mm HE shells fully automatic. And a 40mm grenade launcher (which probably has a bigger drop then a shell) is too much? Aaww nuts.

Yeah, but on a light vehicle that doesn't have kit requirements? I understand it being on a stryker, as currently it's next to useless against other APCs, but on the Humvee, as much as I'd like, I'd say no. It would simply be used as a tool that can fire over walls, or much like a mini, mobile, mortar. Stryker, yes, Humvee, no.

I don't see it as "overpowered", I just want some sources to back this up. Reference pics, amount in use, whatever.
