And of course this all depends on whether or not we want to stop bleeding from a 3 meter fall.

Solution to damage taken from falling?
Would it be possible to make it so a soldier has more health, let's say, but the bullets do even more damage to wound a guy. Basically, the health is increased but you wouldn't notice it, because the bullet damage has been increased. This would then make it so not much damage is done to the soldier when he falls a relatively short drop. Of course all the vehicle/player health values, and all weapon damage values would have to be reworked, so I don't know if the work is worth it.
And of course this all depends on whether or not we want to stop bleeding from a 3 meter fall.

I don't think that falls within the realm of reality. Just this morning I was jumping on my bed and my wife called out, "Hey stop that!" I jumped down and started to bleed out.

they could just change the fall height from which you take damage i think, it never used to be this silly.

This thread is so full of win.
On topic though: is fall damage related to in-game gravity, or another defined parameter?

Thats 9 to 12 feet for us americansTh3Exiled wrote:but I'm pretty sure if you fell 3m while carrying all the gear that the soldiers portrayed in game do, you would feel it.
It would be pretty unrealistic if we saw our soldiers in game jump down 3-4m when they could have just walked further along to get down.
question, with all the gear could you jump off the top of your house and be able to continue with out feeling anything?

Problem is that in-game you can't define the difference between bullet/shrapnel wounds and fall/bruise damage, so slipping downhill contributes to your death by one 7.62mm sent into you.
And the fall damage is probably a material setting.

Re: Solution to damage taken from falling?
Well, of course you should "feel" it when you fall 3m, but you shouldnt die from it. Like... 10-20% health loss should be enough. More than 25 would lead to a more or less slow death, especially for insurgents. And those ain't even carrying much gear.
For 2-3 meters 10-20% health loss is enough. More would of course be dangerous. Of course falling off a 2 story building will cause damage, thats just realistic. But a 2m wall or so shouldnt be much of a problem.
Though I think thats not even the problem right now. The fall damage for those objects isn't even so unrealistic right now. The problem is the fall damage from terrain, not buildings, and the fact that lag can sometimes mean you falling down somewhere.

Insurgents/pilots should have less fall/height damage since they dont carry so much gear.. (maybe RPG insurgent yes)

Re: Solution to damage taken from falling?
its not that you can bleed out just from falling off a step, Little less on the fall damage would be nice, to compensate on when the game gets it wrong.
IRL you can sprain your ankle on a 3" kerb, and you can die in 1" of water. But doesn't really happen enough to bleed out.

Try and play the game as realistically as you can, and have a bit of faith in the devs. Personally I've accepted that I have to find a safe way around drops or avoid them. Bleeding shouldn't be an issue if you're with your squad, but when I do start bleeding I think "That was stupid of me, now my bone is sticking out of my leg and I'm loosing blood" instead of complaining about the fall damage.

mhmm x2, although it can be very inconsistent for example you can start bleeding from sliding down a steep hill which is annoying, but yday I fell off a 5 story building on Ramiel and didnt die....SqnLdr wrote:Try and play the game as realistically as you can, and have a bit of faith in the devs. Personally I've accepted that I have to find a safe way around drops or avoid them. Just needs balance.

i think that bleeding out from sliding down a hill is unrealistic, more than that is annoying if you are an insurgent and there is nobody to help you stop the bleeding. (which normally happen)
