Game relating to real life

Post by Jag82 »

When these maps come along in rotation, I drop off!!
I can't play these maps knowing my friends and comrads are out there doing it for real, and I'm here, sat in my nice warm house.
No, it's wrong.

Then you should stop playing a realism based war game.

Maybe you should sit in a corner instead?

Understandable.

But what should the Dev's do now? They won't simply remove the whole insurgency game mode. Most of us don't connect that much with it and see it as the game it is.

Yes. Some may find it offensive.

But that applies to evey media.

I don't know if you are viewing it from Coalition or Resistance point of view, but that doesn't really matter.

The thing is there is as many different point of views and opinions as every individuals.

Some try to erase it, because they believe offensive media will offend everyone (or at least his kind) and those things should not be in public. (for example FCC)

Some try to liberate it, because they believe offensive media could be avoided just by not looking, and those things should be in public. (there is many organizations about supporting freedom of speech and liberties)

My style is the second choice. Because Peoples have freedom of speech and access to information with in reach of not violating other individuals.

The decision is yours to make.

That's ridiculous in my opinion.

A friend of mine who's been in Afghanistan twice and had plenty of hours outside Kamp Holland thinks PR is an awesome game.

In a way its good that you feel this way mate, it shows you respect our servicement and the work they do.

I sometimes feel the same way, but this game has actually taught me more about the armed forces (well, at least I learned alot in these forums from such servicemen) than I had imagined. Something that increases my respect and knowledge for and of our military surely can't be an evil thing.

PR is nothing more than a virtual game of paintball with realistic props.

The same goes for WW2 games, I learned about the battles and the men and respected them more for it.

When I was younger I was in the scouts I made it all the way to eagle scout. There wasn't a month that went by for 10 years that I wasn't sleeping a weekend outdoors and on those weekends at night we would play capture the flag and games of this nature we had a blast playing those games.
I find PR connects me back to those days of my youth I love the idea of being able to lead in pr this is what keeps me coming back to this mod not so much the idea of warfare. People need to realize that this is a game no matter how real it gets .
I for one hate war and I can't imagine anyone who would get off on the idea of killing people because it's fun or they just think its cool. War maybe necessary at times but war will always be Hell no matter who the winner may be in the end.

Exactly, Chris.

I play PR because I hate the idea of going to war and getting shot in the 21st century. I would do it if I were either asked to enlist or the situation demanded that I enlist, but I still despise war itself.

Videogames based on war are entirely different. They remind me not only of why I wouldn't want to be the poor guy sitting in a foxhole, but also why they are revered.

If you can't see the difference between the game and reality then you should stop playing games :)

EDIT : Title changed to "Game relating to real life " as being a insurgency game mode or regular should make any difference.

End of day this being about war or shooting aliens we are ALL getting entertainment out of killing, but more simply as a digital character cant die we get the satisfaction out of defeating another player. Separating real life and a video game is the main factor. If you cant do that then maybe you should take a step away from game like this for a while

We'll leave this open for now as everyone being well behaved.

what you(the starter of fourm) sead is like saying "guns are bad, we should get rid of them"
im not sure (correct me if im wrong please) but great britan has gun laws like that... and they have the worst gun crimes becuase the store owneres and home owners dont have guns to defend themselfs....
only lawfull peaple follow the law.....
bit offtopic what i sead but still... it relates, if YOU dont like it, why should the rest of the community suffer?

Codered - With the new title the first few posts don't make any sense.

Simulation is what saves you for real, so PR is good, you can have the (I despise using this word in this context) "thrill" of war, as in the adrenalin rush, without having to be at risk or be worrying about comrades at risk, although thoughts should always be there for those out fighting.

Your decision. Interesting topic as well.
Define irony. A bunch of guys playing PR year after year. A game teaching initiative as the prime mover.
However, in regard to EA, these guys never took the initiative.

It's just a game. That's the way I see it. War is hell, but war GAMES are a hell of a lot of fun.

I saw a documentery about koregal valley on the tv and there was a part where us soldier were under fire, one got even shot to his leg. I felt sorry for the guy, but that doesn't stop me from playing PR. Since PR isn't real and nobody gets hurt, feelings maybe..
