Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
Already done... of course there's primary research, but I can't find any fabric warehouses near my location that I can go in and take a sample.

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
your very front wheel with the spikes needs a little work, since it comes outside the track to keep it on then it has thous spikes etc.
to do the spikes on the wheels you can either model each spike which is done most of the time but takes up a load of polys, or you can do what the FH2 guys do and put a 2 sided plane on both sides of both front wheels, then put a flat texture of the spikes on them, problem is that they dont look as good as 3d spikes but the difference is hardly noticeable for the most part.

DOH! yeah forgot to add that part, I've originally modeled every single spike but that took up like 300 polys per wheel
. But yeah I'll add the 2 sided plane. I really don't think anyone would be able to tell the difference between modeled and textured spikes because of the side skirt blocking most of the view.

Sooo whats going on with this faction?
I just saw news on FH2 site, and they gonna have flamethrower in next version. Maybe you can ask them how it works, or exchange for something.

we dont want a flamethrower as we dont want a MIKOR MGL

Right, this is the last time I'm going to say this, no more flamethrower discussion in this thread please. Otherwise you'll feel the wrath of my newly obtained blue-tag powers
j/k
Anyhow, some pictures for y'all. It might not look like much considering the time that's pass but it's hard as hell trying to make the model match up to the references and achieve that realistic look.

Keep in mind they are very much WIP, the turret is far from complete and rest of the chassis is definately going to go through some more touching up, depending on poly count. Currently the model is 5561 tris, not too bad. Yeah I still haven't added the 2 sided planes for the front drive wheels, I'll do that last so it doesn't look too funky for these WIP shots.

hehe, 13 years ago but does anybody remember this?
wonder if the PLA still use modified fishing boats for large scale amphibious operations?

How big of a map do you think you can handle? we really need to have a 4km map but a smaller map will do.

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
2km is a good size you should aim for doing with most of your maps tbh. 4km maps I would do where its really necessary if you want it largely a vehicle based map.

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
actually, yeah come to think of it, what size was Muttrah? 2 km? in that case a 2km map would be fine. The reason why we'd need say a 4 km map is because the main difference between the PLA and PLANM is its vehicles. Thus a large map with emphasis on vehicular combat would show case the PLANM better.
