How to use the sniper (and marksmen) rifles [0.8]

Hey guys,

A while back I was a pretty determined scout, I loved sneaking behind enemy lines, relaying vital info to the team and taking out high profile targets from a distance, but since 0.8 I have not been able to use the sniper rifles of various factions, or the marksmen rifles...

Yes, I get that you need to be still, account for 'zeroing' distance, distance itself, hostile movement etc etc - But as an example; I was on Muttrah this weekend with Vilhelm123 as my l33t spec-ops spotter and we found a few targets ontop of rooftops that weren't moving much; I put the crosshair square on them (Mostly body shots for increased accuracy), and I pressed '3' for the audio queue (though I believe this is just an audio queue and has no bearing on accuracy itself?) and then waited some more.

I took maaaany shots by this method, and my targets didn't even flinch as presumably the shots landed no where near them.

Now, Gunwitch & MadTommy are adament that I'm just **** and there's nothing wrong with the sniper rifles, be that as it may, I need someone who knows what they're talking about to explain how to properly use the rifle (note not the kit), because in previous builds I could, and now I can't = /

One thing I'm dying to get a straight answer to, is how much can you move the mouse to lead targets etc currently? 'Cause atm I can't even hit anything stationary left alone moving!

As a sidenote, specifically the US Marksman kit; I can't hit anything with that anymore!

bit late considering 4 days till all change.

I find that its the amount of movement you do, you would be amazed that even when you think that you have been still you may move to the left or the right (A/D). At the present it movement that throws your shots, find your position and then use your mouse to aim. Even with that you can find that your get deviation so take your shots on targets when you have been able to keep your sight on the target for 2-4 sec's. Then you get hits.

I like the breathing adds to effects. Try a count down, 3,2,1 (shot)

Nah my hands come off the keyboard, the sensitivity on my mouse is flicked down (incase I nudge it); basically I am dead still, take the shot after 8+ seconds; nada! = /

step one: point the end that the bullet comes out of at your target...remember don't aim below, over, to the left or right.. but at the target.. once you have this mastered i'll give you step two

I dunno Heskey, I don't really have that much trouble with it. If I miss a sniper shot's it's usually at really long range, while I actually really like the US marksman kit.

First: after moving/reloading wait 8 seconds.
Second: when you have moved the scope, wait 3 seconds.

Well it seems like there's no "trick" to it, and I'm doing everything by the book, and THEN some...

I now genuinely think my PC has a mind of its own and is purposefully working against me.

i have never hit anything with the marksman/sniper in .80 and its pissing me off. if the DEVs are gonna make a highly complex rifle then give us a friggen guide how to use it. and if it still doesnt work after studying the guide time to change the rifle.

sorry but when i read this it made me mad. THE MARKSMAN KIT SUCKS ***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no one can hit ANYTHING with it. idk how you can use it without hacking the entire game. do you like it cause its shiny? you have a better chance of killing someone as a civi with rocks 3 feet away than you do with the damn marksman kit. if your going to make things this complicated i might as well join the military and lie about my age. lets just hope they cant see my high school grades and realize a few years are missing

But after some time it was all fine...ok here and then i had missing shots that probably shouldn't miss but i think they (sniper and marksman) work pretty well.(So far i had english and american sniper, and american marksman rifle)
