Well if you did try EVERYTHING mentioned (make sure you try it all), did you make sure to adjust your video settings? This mod is a bit more video intensive than vBF2, so try lowering your video quality a bit and see if it helps. Also, there is a bug that causes a crash if you play at lower than 1024x768 resolution, this is supposed to be fixed for the next release.

One other issue, this mod is extremely memory intensive, I recommend you uninstall any programs that are space hogs/unused and manually delete Temporary Files by going to your search under the windows taskbar and typing %temp% and clearing the folder (just the contents NOT the folder itself). This will free up you memory and improve gameplay speed and seriously reduces crashes if not stop them completely.

ahhhh.... ok my brother has vista.. and ive done all the different batch files.. and even after running it.. admin and everything.. (it even said the files were copied with no problems..), it still goes to the warning screen..
if the files were copied and changed? why would it go back? do i need to delete something? i really want him to play and im so confused on how to get this warning screen to go away. ive tried everything that has been mentioned in this forum.. even that total domination or whatever its called..
i dont know what to do..
and he even uses the disk.. no ea downloader version.

What extension does the download have?

If it's RAR then go to http://www.rarlabs.com and downoad WinRAR.

But now.. When I play online for about maybe 30mins, 1hour, 2hours, after a while the game just closes imediately. It says that there is a dll problem or something. It also crashes often when I load a map and it reaches 14%. My resolutions are on higest possible for everything. I just dont know! (im running Vista-_- but have XP)

Any idea's at all?

Thanks so much!
Exact same problem, quad core with 4 GB of ram and 64 bit vista. I have no idea how to actually run one core only.

Hey.

I'm an PR-veteran (played since first release :p ), now I tried to reinstall it on my new pc.

So, I installed BF2, rebooted and patched to 1.41.

Vanilla-bf works fine.

Now I downloaded the 0.8 Core and the Lvls.

I doubleclicked the 0.8Core.exe, but nothing happens.

Is this some prob, caused by one of Vistas (64bit) stupid "security" - programms?

Uhghgghghhhhhhh I always figured Id never have to deal with this myself.. I frakkin hate Vista so much.

Got BF2 installed on my laptop, runs on low/med settings somehow. Figured it wouldnt even start...

So, BF2 plays fine BEFORE i patch to 1.41. Once I patch to 1.41 it no longer opens.

Just double click... wait atick, it flashes black, then goes back to my desktop...

Any ideas?

I read around the various Vista threads and even found people with 1.41 problems... but nothing ever seems to solve this problem other than...luck and a ton of reinstalls???

vista 32
3Gb DDR2
a sh*tty, what I thought was onboard "card" 358Mb Mobile Intel Graphic Media Accelerator X3100 (Im sure it shouldnt even run but WHY does it run before the 1.41 patch and not after? :\)
2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo Processor

halp.... :)

Ohhh, and windowed doesnt give an error... no PR starts [SP or MP] and BF2 wont either, not after 1.41 at least...

Okita, that is pretty much exactly the same problem my mate is having, which i posted in the "PR under windows vista" section.
You think it might be something to do with the 1.41 patch then?

Any help greatly appreciated guys!! :D

Hey mate, I think I got it.

So I did reinstalls and uninstalls and reinstalls, etc you get the point..

And like I said, it worked before the patch but not after...

So I did the patch again on a fresh install, it took FOREVER, and halfway it just sort of stopped, said it FAILED, but once I closed that little box it brought up the main install window for the patch that said "INSTALLATION COMPLETE"

So I thought hey that doesnt make sense...

So I ran the patch again, and this time it FLEW through the patching, almost as if it had done half of it already...then slowed a tad, then finished.

I loaded up BF2 and BAM. Worked.

Installing PR now, will fill ya in if it works...

So yeah, my advice is just do the patch, let it finish [DONT DO ANYTHING ON YOUR PC, LET IT GET ALL THE POWER IT NEEDS]

Then once its done, DO IT AGAIN.

I guess...heh...worked for me... at least for BF2

I think the problem is just something with Vista and the fact that the 1.41 patch is like half a gig... moving a lot of files, etc. So its just prone to messing up and then not working...

PR is working perfectly.. well aside from the fact I mistakenly tried to run PRSP on top of a test build of .85 :P

But yeah, it loads up just fine, crashes on map load though due to some missing objects :\

Waiting on the .8 downloads now, off to bed...

But yeah, my uneducated guess is that the patch for 1.41 is just really big and Vista sucks, so the combo there doesnt favor updating. I know even on XP years ago[whenever 1.41 came out] I had a good deal of trouble getting it to fully install... So just let it install, leave your PC alone, dont even surf the net, come back, and reinstall the patch again... who knows, might work :) Worked for me.

After that, I just set it to run in XP SP2 compatibility and run as administrator and it loaded right up :)
