Shots on helicopter

When rpg or something hits a helicopter. It usually can stay alive. in the game it usually just blows up

yes, there is a good thread around here saying hp should be increased but critical damage should also be used

what would be ideal is locational damage. you hit a chopper in the tail rotor, it will start to spin out of control. hit the engines, and it loses alot of power and you will have to limp it home before you crash. however i dont think these things are possible in the BF2 engine.

They had location based damage back in .5, or at the least something that resembles it. It caused server problems and didn't always work.

Someone, a week or two ago, posted in the suggestion forums about raising helicopter health and the damage threshold so that the same amount of damage as now will weaken the helicopter to the point where it will cease to have necessary functionality, but will survive long enough for it to crash on the ground and have everyone have at least a chance of escaping.

well. 85 is outsoon and what ever changed is already there. Cant wait too see.

Last I heard...

There was things like "dynamic crashes" and loss of control of air vehicles after being hit, but it caused issues ( python? ) and didn't work

Though I remember hearing it **did** work on a local server.... don't quote me im going off memory :P
