1. Get rid of the Challenger 2. Too overpowered and eliminates the ability of the insurgents to hide in destructable buildings. At least with APCs and Schmitars, they can destroy the buildings, but they need to rely on infantry to not get blown up. The Challenger is more of a lone wolf killing machine weapon than a tool for teamwork.
Well it depends how you use it, I find it very easy to take out with a bomb car.

But thats not the point of the thread..

With the new goodies insurgents get the challenger isn't as big an issue as it was. If the VCP is moved and must be taken in order to get the challenger and the helo then it makes it costly to spawn more than once, especially if the VCP comes under attack.

The artillery IED pickup kits and 'big red' trucks should be able to handle a lone challenger, especially if there are more buildings for said things to hide behind till ready to strike.

Yea, but 1 guy in a bomb truck shouldn't decide the fate of the team because they can easily mess it up and miss. The Challenger is just too overpowered and usually camps way out away from the action to just rank up kills.

Well thats the point, if used properly you get a guy to tell you where the tank is, update you on its position so you can get it.

Kind of like 1 guy can mess it up for his team and crash the cobra on muttrah or drive the btr into a no go zone/ambush.

I agree with you. Cant stop people to mess it up for his/her team. If you managed to keep people from messing up for their team, congratz, you have succeded in modding the players.

Don't forget the artillery IED pick up kit the insurgents will get as well.

I miss the days when Brit teams almost always lost because they killed civilians and lost 10tickets per civilian

a good team = pwnage back then, having to actually look at what ur shooting and go "hm, maybe I shouldn't shoot this guy"

The idea of the tank is to give British power in the open desert, but put taht tank in teh city...and it gets pwned up.

The way to go isn't to nerf maps by removing assets, its to makes those assets even more significant - e.g. harsher ticket penalties,

Thats a point, take those spawned weapons from the mosque and spread them around a bit in minicaches that aren't part of the gamemode objectives. Either that, or use smaller statics around the mosuqe so you can't see in to it from other buildings.

Switch to a night map. Only a few street lights and so on...that would be cool, at least for the Brits. :) Btw. we need more night maps.

The new insurgent spawn system will take care of the mosque stuff. The tanks loss will cost the brits tickets, so it will be very standoffish. Killing a civilian subtracts from intel points as well as making the shooters spawn time longer and zeroing out their score.

I think the tank will be more of an artillery piece with called shots by other team mates than the 'uber battlefortress' it is now.

I still think making the VCP control give the brits tank and helo spawns is the way to go.

That's different though. If you mess up with the Cobra, you still have a way to inflict massive damage on the enemy such as with the apc, infantry squads, JDAMs, etc.

If one guy messes up with the Big Red, you don't have anything else to fall back on to take out the tank. IEDs maybe, but since Basrah is so open, they are pretty useless since there are no chokeholds. Sure, lay an IED on the main road, but anyone who even goes down the mainroad is asking for it or is willing to take the chance.

There is no checks and balances on Basrah for the insurgents. They either have IEDs to take out the tank which I believe doesn't even take it out in 1shot, and 1 Big Red. I am looking forward to the new IEDs, but Basrah doesn't have the narry alleys or chokepoints for them to be effective on like Ramiel and Korengal. I would be for the Challenger if the Insurgents had the option of hiding in the city and if the city/villages were larger, but sadly the map has become outdated with the patches, so hiding in the city/villages isn't that effective as they are pretty transparent (not very dense).

That way, the insurgents would be forced to fall back into the heart of the city/villages when the challenger comes, giving them an ambushing advantage. As it is now though, even if they fall back, they gain nothing, especially if a cache spawns out in a field.

Besides, with the tank gone, the British still have an APC and Schmitar.

Bombcars will take it out in 1 hit, I have done it many times before.

Even RPGs will if the tank isn´t bright.

Ieds will if you set up an ambush, and if the tank only stays in the desert, it is doing what it is meant to do.

I had a round where I made an armour squad. We never lost our tank (close after a few RPGs and mortars) and had 2 APCs covering us plus engineers.

However, we didn´t go into the city, so all the kills we got were insurgents running around outside and such while we covered the infantry. In that case whats the problem? Even if you can´t take it out, you don´t need to.
