Fallujah west LAG

Post by nick20404 »

So I have tried twice already to play this map, Turned down my graphics to medium and it still made no difference, When I left my RP and looked north my game was unplayable the stuttering was so bad my guy was hitting him self with the gun. I left and joined a new server new map everything ran great on operation archer, fools road, and the new Russian map. I went back to my settings and lowered the shadows to low and the dynamic lights to low, Rejoined fallujah and it was the same lag. Anywhere on the map it lags while looking into the city, it's not just any lag spike its game crippling couldn't even play it if I wanted.

Any ideas what is going on?

I have been having similar issues since the new release. I have been getting major lag spikes to over 1k ping lasting for 5-20 seconds before returning to normal at regular intervals making gameplay near impossible.

turn your textures down to medium or low will do the trick.

Ya, I tried turning down to Medium, even turned down texture filtering to medium, no help. Besides it would be too big of a hassle to turn down my textures every time it went to that map, I can play any other map fine with no lag, Just seems to be a problem with this map just wondering if anyone else had this problem. Haven't tried playing on Low yet I don't think that would make much of a difference my graphics card is a 9800gtx+ so it should be able to handle medium even high textures. I will try again tomorrow on all low settings to see if that fixes it.

Btw I am not getting lag spikes like ping shooting up, but it feels kinda like that.

Some of the smoke from the wreckages are causing bad lag when I am aiming.

Ya man, I am fairly confident this is the case. Every time I look at the wreckage on the road I lag bad, feels like the game is going to crash.

Every other new maps works great and tried all the other new city maps also.

Most likely not a server issue.

If you turn your settings down and it makes no difference, it's time to upgrade your pc. (at least part of it)

Maybe you have a good graphics card but an older or not so good mobo,
so you end up getting a bottleneck somewhere?

And you definitely need 2gb of ram at least to run pr properly imo.
(I have 4gb myself)

I run everything as high as it will go with 1920x1200 res and get 50+ fps (24" monitor) on Fallujah West.
(Usually get 70-100 on any other map)

Fallujah West is definitely a hardware intensive map but should pr hold back to cater for those who have an old pc?

Of course not.

Should the pr dev's optimize pr as best they can for people who own an older pc?

Of course, and they do.

Post your pc specs mate and maybe someone can help you.

EDIT--> btw if you do have an older pc you will definitely need to turn dynamic lighting and dynamic shadows to "off"
they by far put the biggest strain on your pc.

This is not related with OP's problem.

Yesterday evening, Thors server, during West Fallujah we had huge server lags which were 100% related to APC shooting.
Two APC's were diving around the city and when they were just driving - no lags at all, but soon as they opened fire huge server lags started to happen. Cease of their fire stopped lags immediately, and so on.

Don't know if this is already known but it might be helpful to someone maybe.

turn textures down to low then, that will turn off the lightmaps.

I get low fps I think because of this too, and sometimes it gets so bad I think it's the server lag. On all the other maps including Basrah I run fine.

you guys would be amazed how easy it is for one thing to lag a whole map. While I have no real issues allot of guys with the same set up as me do. For Korengal it was as small as a few large texture. Fallujah is being looked into and it will be found or improved.

Thanks. I've tried turning textures down and a lot other stuff, but it also depends where I am and what direction I am looking to on the map. Like when I am in the south if I look to one point north it is really bad.

The work wich CRF did in Korengal was amazing, now I can play there normally. I hope he can figure out the lagging source in Fallujah :D

I get some wierd lag issues on Fallujah as well. And NO THIS IS NOT AN FPS ISSUE. Its the lag where you turn around, but your view 'snaps back' to what you were looking at 3 or 4 times, then it finally lets you turn. Ping stays around 50 the whole time, and FPS never drops below 60. I get it worse on some maps, but sometimes Fallujah is really, really bad.

I also have fps-drops when looking into the city centre of fallujah west - so if I'm in USMC base looking to North and FPS drop to 20, as insurgent on a north point of the map looking to south will drop the frames.

I can play almost any map on 1280*1024 with fluid 50-70fps but in fallujah there has to be something that just overloads my PC :(

Muttrah also is a kind of harder then all the other maps but I'll try to set the graphics down a bit and then post here again, already set AA from 8 to 4...
