Pilots and self defense, what do they get irl ?

What weapons do pilots get irl and how many clips for self defense irl ?

In real-life they get pistols, but due to gameplay issues (people using the pilot kit for offense when they get shot down, or even parachuting on purpose, instead of trying to get back to base), it has been taken out.

Locking as there have been threads about this before, and this thread would also fit in suggestions not discussion. And there's a reason why suggestions is closed.
