Do you hesitate?

Post by mp5punk »

Do you hesitate to take a shot at a really needed or important moment, such as with a HAT or LAT? Well i am only asking because sometimes i do and i dont even realize it until i am dead and i ask what could i have done better.

Does this happen to you sometimes?

I do. "Is that really an enemy... ?" then I get shot at and die... "I guess that was an enemy.".

The thing is, I'm never wrong when I identify friendly/enemies, I'm just afraid of teamkills.

Shoot first, ask questions later. But it is a bit different for choppers. Even in real life, they need to ask their commander before engaging, so a few more seconds of comfirming your targets in game isn't much to ask for anyways.

LOOK ON YOUR MAP! Duh, don't shoot if friendlies are in the area.

hesitating was vital in 0.8. when the enemy started spraying at me, i always took the time to get a clean shot and mostly survived. same thing counts for hat. you only have one shot and i rather get killed and let my squadmate take over the hat, than risking a miss.

I don't follow the 'kill them all' mentality so yeah I hesitate a lot. And die. :p

Full Metal Jacket quote: "A marine who hesitates is a dead marine!" (i think that is how it goes)

transcript from full metal jacket
The deadliest weapon in the world is a Marine and his rifle. It is your killer instinct which must be harnessed if you expect to survive in combat. Your rifle is only a tool. It is a hard heart that kills. If your killer instincts are not clean and strong you will hesitate at the moment of truth. You will not kill. You will become dead Marines. And then you will be in a world of shit. Because Marines are not allowed to die without permission! Do you maggots understand?
but i also hesitate when i can't tell for sure is it is a friendly.

Yes, I do hesitate.

And by the number of deaths I get I seem to be the only one around the map :D

It depends - In open, or forests I do hesitate. But on INS or urban city... Everything goes out of window: "Spray and pray"

this will get you tk's and even if it was an accident they don't hesitate to punish for a kill, it wasn't as bad when i could just hit the tab button and check the map and where im looking, but now we don't have the direction markers so i will get more tk's in .85 >_<

I was assuming that people are NOT COMPLETE idiots and shoot at soldiers with friendly uniforms. If you are a complete idiot, then all hope is lost.

Takes about 2 seconds to check minimap. By the time you zoom in, either with scope or binocs, you should know if the target is enemy or not. No reason to hesitate.

All of the above, you should do before you engage anyways. ^That is not hesitation. Instead it is called SOP, standard operating procedure.

Hesitation WILL get you killed. Following SOP will not, and will also reduce teamkills.

lol also that reminds me of a game i had on muttrah i got into a little bird then some guy started shooting at me, i thought nothing of it thought he was firing at the lb and not intending to hit me but then two other guys come up and surround me and start firing at me hitting me a couple times so i started spinning the lb to try to hit they stopped i got pissed hopped out pulled the pistol and started shooting at the one that started it and killed him then i see the other 2 reloading hella quick so i started firing at them too i killed another one then the other runs for the lb and starts spinning and every time he swung around i hit hit and killed him and i got kicked :x

Really? Where is the rest of your squad? No one else can look in the optics for you? What about squad leader?

I forgot to mention, if your teammates are also complete idiots, then all hope is lost too. :P
