Driving around inna truck resupplying

Post by Cassius »

Friendlies a good distance away from a firebase, so they can get kits without having to go all the way back to a firebase. Do you see yourself doing that ?

Sure, no problem. I see people do this all the time. You may think it's a boring job, but it really isn't. It can be very exciting to be honest. Imagine yourself driving through the woods of Kozelsk or the deserts of Kashan, whilst taking fire. Chatmessages with players asking for supplies and stuff. Does feel good when you finally get there, bulletholes in your not-so-shiny-anymore truck and the "thanks" messages coming up on teamchat. You may think your job is done by then, but no, you are to head back to resupply and do it all over again, depending on who needs supplies.

Important to offer your services. Don't be passive, be active, it makes the job a lot more interesting.

Yeah deffo.

Create a Logistics Squad maybe get a couple of you doing it. It could change the face of the battle if people can get the AT kit or AA kit when they need it.

done it when the situation arises

Op archer as USMC, we had jsut had a good 15min firefight in the bottom right hand little village of the map, finally we overrun the hideout and got the cache, requested air trans.

we all hopped in and made the dash for the airport (right at the top of the map). unfortunatly when we got there the chopper took an AA hit, killed all the people in the back, the chopper however survived, as did the pilot ([R-DEV]Nickbond), and squad leader (.:iGi:. Rudd_Medicman). spawned in at the USMC main with a massive rescue operation about to unfold. me and frosty jumped into a loggy truck.

we raced from the USMC main to the airport, taking the most direct route and deadliest route. going past the paddy fields there were alot of AK weilding taliban. once we got passed that sat on a hill were 3 techincals, some quick thinking forced me off road so that the .50cals couldn't get the angle to shot us... i then chose the wrong entrance! whoops, a quick 360* turn and we drove round the back, drove over a little wall and dropped the repair thing near the chopper, a couple of minutes on guard duty watching the 3 fifties on the hill

the aftermath was a great success, we called in mortars on the 3 fifties, the chopper flew out to fly another day, and we went on to contest another cache!

so all in all, driving around in logistic trucks is fun and not that boring!

I have tried to do this myself on Fallujah.

I have to admit it was a very disappointing experience as all the squads seemed to ignore that such thing is available.

Not a single time time in the whole 2 hours long round we were asked to assist.

Now for the second time I was able to look at it from the different perspective - as a Russian APC driver on Kozelsk.

There was a logistics squad so I thought "Great, repairs just behind the corner!".

Ah, stupid me...

Instead of logistics support the "logistics" squad (filled with 6 ppl - a bit too much, isn't it?) decided to go for a road trip (with 2 trucks!) to the other side of the map, effectively leaving all of our armor to its fate.

Needless to say the firebase got destroyed in 2 minutes, with both of the trucks following it shorty afterwards.

We have died 2 times in the APC just because of this - stuck and unable to move before we were finally destroyed.

3rd time didn't happen because I got sick of it and left

I suppose it will take another month or so before people go from experiencing the new maps and trying out the weapons to "breaking the game". Thats when tactics will be higher up the priority list and support like the one you provided more valued.

I'm starting to drive the logistics truck a lot on Al Basrah, and i'm liking it. I'll text some messages asking who wants supply or repair, but if nobody answers, i'll just drive around to all the rallypoints and firebases and drop a crate beside them. Dropping repair stations around vehicles. Etc. But, the fun comes when you have to avoid enemies or enemy fire. Or race through the enemy fire to get to that downed vehicle. It may seem like a boring job on the surface. But, i swear if more people tried it, more people would be doing it.

USMC truck and repair station on Muttrah = bad, it looks random in its current position and makes the choppers redundant.

I don't like the position because its surplus to requirement

e.g. kolesck, transport trucks happily transport whole squads and provide them with the ammo they want.

The log truck should be even more important, ie. 1 per team and non if heavy choppers are being used.
