Punch someone in the face!

Post by Arnoldio »

PR 0.85, great, best version of PR, best team play, everything is just awesome, 10 stars on that devs.

Its the players that I want to punch in the face...and not just sometimes but 90% of the time.

Reason. Full server, nice play, everything in order...map changes, 30 players DC. I mean, WTF??!! I totally understand, some people need to go to sleep, some people have issues with map, some people had enough of PR for that day...but I'd say okay, 10 ppl left because of that...not 30 or more...Then you have to go play on another server, which, according to Murphy's laws, is right at the end of the round, and same thing happens...and this happens over and over...

Ok, lets say you stay on the server with that dozen people left. Your lucky if anybody creates a squad, and if he does, you get in and he re-joins the squad because he doesn't want to be a SL. Why creating a squad then...then everybody keeps re-joining and it's just a waste of time. When that happens, there is still 10 unassigned people running around and one manning vehicles and driving them to the depot to get the sniper kit, and then staying in the main base doing absolutely nothing. Read the Murphy thing again because it happens...

And on the Archer Redux...the map is so awesome, but still 80% of the team thinks the castle is even awesome r and camps up there, 10% is in main doing anything useful/chatting and another 10% is busting their balls off looking for cashes (US team I'm talking of if you don't get it).

And so on...That retarded acting totally ruins PR and I don't have nerves to play like that because I want to destroy something in my reaching radius.

K, I think that's all I have to say for now...going back to PR.

I edited your spelling to make it easy to read.

They leave b/c 90% of the player base atm is vbf2 players and they left to join the US team when they got switched with real players leaving for sleep in the mix etc

try to join a server with clan members on it they mostly wont server hop.

Bosco, that's face-palm for the harder people!

I'm lucky, I never seem to run into these idiots (touch wood) but mainly because I'm willing to squad lead if no-one else wants to.

Well map switched mestia to kashan. People who don´t like vehicles leave, people who like them join.

When I go to join a server, the map is the deciding factor. If then I was playing kashan, and then the server changes to sunset city, I will just leave because I hate playing that map.

Or I join to fly something for once (you would be surprised at how rarely I can in between getting TKed, kicked because the admins want it, shot down just out of my main etc) when I die I most likely leave because of the huge spawntime, likeliness I won´t get it again and the fact the team communicates about as much as a rock.

The problem is, with so many things forcing us to play with huge teamwork, I will never fly with someone I don´t know, join a squad of someone I don´t know etc. Because its just not worth my time, especially in long spawn assets or big infantry maps. Which is a shame, but its just how PR has changed, back in 0.6 I remember you could join any squad and have an awesome time.

+1 I am afraid of creating a squad because I mostly get 3 guys who dosent answer or do shit. What I love about a squad member is taht someone can take alittle care of themself, without running around lonewolfing. In 0.6 it was so easy find the right people.

On the other hand 0,85 is a good version its just all the noobs that destroys it for now. And it seems alot of the noobs dosent return to vBF2 but stays.

-To get anything of use out of pubbies you have to grab them by the balls and pin them down while you perform the castration. The next time they join a squad(especially your squad again) they'll be nice and docile. Eventually you get a teamwork-aware population that expands exponentially.

Yeah...well for a change, I had a great 4 map streak...almost. First it was fools road, done some tanking and we won..nice, then it was Jabal, I created a squad, went to East Beach, started placing FOB & stuff, APC comes, we kill it, everything great and good, and then internet timeout...I get back on the server and land on the MEC team...Murphy that is. So I wait & wait to get back on USA and due to teamswitchers causing 31v33 coudn't switch, but still after few minutes i said, lets give it a go, if they made id 31v33, i'll make it 30v34, but it kicked me back to MEC, so until spawn, i've had team switch disabled, but welcome the murphy again, 2 players left on US side, but I couldnt switch...ofcourse...but in a minute or two i got back to US and got my squad back, wich kindly accepted me in and gave me squadleading option again...Then I played OP barracuda and sunset city w/o problems until I had enough for today and found myself typing all this **** here :D + I was t3h win on all the maps. And despite loads of new players, there was not A single problem, no TKing no nothing...perfect pubbing rounds...HOG server is hats down, especially playing with the guys.

people people, please just give it about a month. every release gets the noob parade right off the bat, and yes i agree it can be very irritating but it does settle down over time. this is not a mod for the faint of heart, and the true morons will get tired of it and go back to vanilla, leaving mostly the good players. ive been playing since .4 so ive seen this happen many times now. patience my friends.

Makes somewhat sense, but there will ALWAYS be new people. The old noobs will leave, and new ones will come, Over and Over and Over. The "noob parade" will never stop.

Ok, lets say you stay on the server with that dozen people left. Your lucky if anybody creates a squad, and if he does, you get in and he re-joins the squad because he doesn't want to be a SL. Why creating a squad then...then everybody keeps re-joining and it's just a waste of time. Read the Murphy thing again because it happens...
As a PR-newbe I feel kinda caught and guilty on this^^: I don't disconnect while map-change but the other things I may do sometimes:

The main-problem I'm running into is my addiction to scoped rifles with zoom xD

So if the map is right and my need of teamplay is satisfied for the moment I'll try to get the sniper kit (if I cant get sniper then marksman).
So now the problem is that 1) I have to come into a squad (to request any kit), most of them named "APC", "TANK", "INF", "INF TW" - I then have to decide who I'll piss of for having a sniper in his squad.
If no squad gets created I have to create one, then several ppl will join my squad.
The round starts, I'll run to a crate/whatever to get the kit, after having it I either get booted out of the squad or am squadleader with at least 2 persons in squad who expect teamplay or want to get orders etc. I then decide that it would be useless for them to be in a spotting sniper squad, whose task it is to lay hidden in the middle of nowhere, marking enemy/lasing ground targets and shooting now and then - so I leave the squad to make someone else squadleader so that they can get their needs satisfied.

The problem in general should be that since 0.85 lots of new ppl started playing PR (so did I).
Now they just start playing and not really have a clue on what to do - so they know they have to be in a squad to get a kit/because the server demands it - but if no one creates a squad they have to create one. After this several others (newbes and veterans) join the squad but as the newbe-SL doesn't feel qualified enough to lead a squad they will rejoin it and hope that a veteran (who has a clue of the game) leads them good.
Another problem is the 24/7 demand of teamplay (I dont have the feel of teamplay 24/7, sry but some relaxed rounds as sniper are good, too) combined with the Kit-limitations.
As a sniper you kind of seem to be the ******* of the troups anyway, get booted out of squads permanent.
I try to fulfill the needs of the team (e.g. spotting for A10 etc.) and not just to make kills as a sniper but nevertheless ppl seem to hate me.

Don't get me wrong, I had awesome rounds with teamplay, reviving lots of ppl as a medic and finding caches, invading villages, pick-ups from the huey etc. but sometimes I either dont find a good squad or have no need on this and then I'll do the sniper.

Oh btw just in case: No, I dont switch sides, I play insurgent etc. also and then wait a lot till someone passes my IED :D

Deadfast, exactly my thoughts. Antiglucke, people join thinking its a ordinary squad, then you just grab a sniper kit and leaves. Rename the squad and see if that it will work out better.

Well Antiglucke, role of sniper is recon, there fore getting data from the field and passing it to commander before friendly troops hit that location so they know what can they expect and from what angle it's coming...Sniper squad should have only sniper and spotter in it (either of them a SL, not really relevant), while marksman is a part of squad and moves with them and picks targets that are further.

Use that patience when you place an IED at sniping. Shoot at auto riflemans, grenadiers and officers because those are the biggest threat for mates in field...also change position after a shot or two because sooner or later they will find you (especially if you are on some obvious place like crane ) and if they don't take you down with their bullets, an HEAT will probably end up in your face, if not an arty. I admit that I can't hit jack shit with the sniper rifle despite how easy it is to use...I just find myself way more satisfied firing quick blindifre bursts out of a small room with a marine on every window and a bunch of scattered insurgents shooting rpgs and putting some good ol' 7.62 close to you.

This is very true - we all started as noobs. Welcome these guys and show them the ropes - if PRs not for them, then they'll un-install PR in a couple of weeks. A certain percentage, will stay, get hooked, and be good players.
PR would be nothing without players.
