For weapons, I'd agree with all of you there, with China supplying in an attack, but would the MEC be allied with PRK?

Doubt it.aperson444 wrote:For weapons, I'd agree with all of you there, with China supplying in an attack, but would the MEC be allied with PRK?
It's unlikely to have an alliance between China and MEC period.. So PRK + MEC is even more weird and unlikely.
Don't interpret PR like a single timeline WW3, some wars occur at different times so the «opfor» factions are not bound to each other by any pact.
Also, minding the fact that there's no storyline, I recommend you don't add any background to PRK more than what reality gives us right now.

Not exactly a rifle optic, but I did find an interesting NK-only scope they use on SVD's: Dragunov.net - Romanian LPS Rifle Scope
Scroll to the bottom and you'll find an NK made scope. Not sure if they also put it on Type 88's though.

Well we need to know whether PRK will have Chinese or not.

Chinese what? Scopes? I'd rather have the NK scope myself, but it doesn't seem people are willing to give the North Koreans anything. I mean, honestly, Chechens get scopes even though they're not even a country but NK can't? Ah well, we still need to compile a list of what is to be thus far. Type 88 rifles are OK, right?

Re: [Proposal] Korean People's Army Ground Forces
Type 88 is fine, along with the Type 68 (Copy of the AKM). There should also be a type 56 for Crewman or something (or the type 6
.
They also have both RPK and RPD. Which would be better for the Automatic Rifleman position?
And of course, don't forget the type 56 SKS. Perhaps a Marksman could have this (sniper has SVD) with a Chinese made scope (or if NK makes some, NK scopes).
If we could add a scout position, what if we used the PPSh-41. It seems that NK still uses it, although the standard assault rifle is the AK-74 (Type 8
or Type 56 (which is the AK-47). The thing is that NK is so secretive, that no one really has full detail about their light equipment.
I was also reading that NK actually locally manufactures the Zastava M76. Could this be the sniper rifle instead of SVD?

That is the Zastava scope.

Sniper could be given the old Mosin-Nagant rifle from before 0.8. Then marksman gets SVD w/NK scope. Their scope just looks too funky and retro not to use. RPD might make a better auto rifleman, more ammo.

I doubt that PRK would use the Mosin-Nagant if they already have access to SVDs or SKSs.

Re: [Proposal] Korean People's Army Ground Forces
Yeah, that's highely unlikely. I say you give them more marksmen kits (six?) and just forget about the sniper kit. Not sure about what kind of tactics the PK forces use, but my guess is that it's quite close to the way the Soviets used to fight. They didn't have any snipers in the way western armies use them, but only marksmen on a squad-level to support the infantry.
A different kit layout would also add to variety and give this army a unique feel to it. I say you do the same thing with HAT/LAT - give them more LATs than other armies and get rid of the HAT-kit.
Or maybe give the marksman kit a scoped AK and the SVD to the sniper?

Wanted to make my own suggestion for a design plan, but don't have time to make an Excel, so I'll just list a couple of weapons that I think should be used by this faction.
Makarov PM (pistol used by officers)
AK74 or Type 88 - main rifle
AKM-S (AKM with foldable stock - used by medics and crewmen)
RPD for the automatic rifleman - another candidate for this role is the RPK, but the RPD would add some variety since the RPK is already ingame
SVD (marksman rifle)
RPG-7 (anti-tank weapon)
NSV (used as deployable HMG - currently ingame as the MG in the MEC T72)
Most of these are already ingame, so the weapons wouldn't be to much problem. Same goes for the vehicles (BTR-60, BRDM-2 and T62 are all widely used within the KPA). The main problems will be the soldier models and voice-acting.
But I like the idea! With this and the JGSDF the Asian theatre in PR will turn into something really interesting!

For South Korea, it might be harder. We need to make a K2 rifle model.

Re: [Proposal] Korean People's Army Ground Forces
some people have been saying that the north koreans would be too close to the milita. but if you think about it, we dont have a proper third world army in PR at this moment. the insurgents, taliban, and militia are not armies in the true sense of the word. they are guerilla/resistance groups. they are not part of a government like a legitamite military. i wouldnt say mec is a third world army, they have too much money and modern hardware {yes i know they are fictional} north korea could fill a gap in PR, a large poorly funded and mostly obsolete equipped army taking on a superpower. i think the real key is map design and asset allocation to make it so both sides can have fun in PR if nk ever gets made.

That is why I think they should probably have scopes. To show that they are third world army they should have everything other armies have, just older or not quite as good.

Re: [Proposal] Korean People's Army Ground Forces
Well we already know NK has scopes.
Apparently I saw some that are some Chinese scopes from the 80's. Not too old.
NK doesn't have too old equipment, it's just that they keep eevrything they can get. I believe they have acquired some T-72s right now (or was it 62s?).

We do? The only infantry optic that we have even an inkling on is the one for their supposed Zastavas.aperson444 wrote:Well we already know NK has scopes.

And the ones they make themselves for their SVD's in case you didn't read my post about it.

Right, I was referencing them having Zastava M76 as per wikipedia.Hresvelgr wrote:And the ones they make themselves for their SVD's in case you didn't read my post about it.

I think that we should have them use the Zastava for sniper, since it is locally made.

Re: [Proposal] Korean People's Army Ground Forces
They've had T-62s for quite some time, they produce them and call them Chonma Hos I think, might have spelled it wrong. And they have bought a T-90 and also made a tank based on a T-72 with some T-80 and possibly some T-90 parts called the Pookpong Ho. I think the gun itself is from the T-80 at least. Question is whether to use the Chonma or the new one, with Chonma probably more likely.aperson444 wrote:Well we already know NK has scopes.

In the scopes issue, I think they should use the Zastava (hopefully using the local name in-game, sounds cooler and more unique) as a DMR, maybe the Militia's old Mosin for Sniper, and put their locally produced scopes on the Officer's and Rifleman Optic's Type-88 but to show they are third-world no other kits get it maybe?
For vehicles the Chonma's definitely gonna be the main tank most likely, considering there are no known Pookpong pics. I think the latest Chonma model has a 125mm gun instead of the old 115mm. The BTR-60 and BRDM-2 are also gonna be there, and the VTT-323 perhaps as an IFV along the lines of the Bradley and BMP? According to wiki it's their main APC. this site has pics: VTT-323 series of tracked armoured vehicles
Should use the one with twin-MGs and ATGMs. And could the PT-85 amphibious tank be fitted in the faction? Would be a cool addition.
EDIT: Come to think of it they should fill the role of the Spandrel, even totally replace the BRDM to make them more unique perhaps.
