Also much safer for the passengers and pilot as he doesnt have to take off. I would rather also drop from 5 m up and have my medic heal everyone than get mowed down by a helo taking off, squished, or lose the chopper to a bad landing spot.Drake wrote:Why doesnt ppl do more water drops?? I know that feelingJedimushroom wrote:Because people never seem to realise that hovering 5 metres above unlandable terrain means get the hell out and I keep getting shot down because of it.
Using the commo rose tro say bail out, whilst flying a few metres off the ground is not a good idea
Anyone know how to assign the "Bail out" command to a hot key?

Re: Pilot, where are we going?
You could do the same as the cars and such and add a dummy weapon to the trans helis that says "bail out" when you fire, and give it a long reload time or overheat time so it can´t be spammed.
"Today's forecast calls for 30mm HE rain with a slight chance of hellfires"
"oh, they're fire and forget all right...they're fired then they forget where the target is"

PR is a game that heavily relies on teamplay. Look for a good server and become a regular on it. Communication will improve and you will learn who is a good pilot and who is not.

Depending on where you want to waterdrop you are overwatched by AA and where you can safely waterdrop you can as well drop on the beach.Blakeman wrote:Also much safer for the passengers and pilot as he doesnt have to take off. playing the other day, requested lift to B2 for drop, helo picks me up and asks me for grid, tell him. He takes off fly's in a circle then lands NE, further away than where I started. Then screaming bailout I jump out. He then swings the copter around and TK's me with the tail. Spectacular FAIL.

Re: Pilot, where are we going?
I wish if the pilot knew that AA or something was in the designated LZ, they would just type "No way, squad 1, LZ too hot." Instead of just taking people to areas they want. If the area isn't Helo friendly there are other types of transport, pilots shouldn't be affended if squad jumps out and takes a boat instead.
But still in 0.85 the good old most annoying thing is... Pilots that come to hover over squads when they are trying to be covert. The best way to give up a snipers hideout is to have a littlebird over it, pilot spamming get in. Keep those helos in play and on the helipad if not called.

Re: Pilot, where are we going?
Good times, I feel like I'm gonna cry sometimes.
I've seen horrible things, hueys flipping on the carrier SIDEWAYS into the ocean fully loaded, and of course the constant HMMM im a pilot but I dont use any communication, AT ALL, so let me just fly to the BIGGEST SQUAD away from an attack flag ( usually my squad defending ) and CIRCLE THEM or hover and wait....
Some bad attack pilots too - Let me just dive down and strafe with missles because I dont know what a gunner is ^^ oh woops gravity I hit the ground.
There is a REASON I do not fly, because I cannot... except littlebirds, those are so easy and nimble to fly once you overcome the "omgimflipping" part. Though I havent hopped in one of those in at least 6mo. ( as the pilot )

Stick to a household name in helicopterymotion and you'll be fine, Dont trust anyone !

Smeg: Fuzz commands a lot and promotes good teamwork, db flips vehicles, Bosco is an all-round nub, Outlawz is an SP whore, Nickbond is a friggin ninja and Rhino gets kicked for being a n00b.

Re: Pilot, where are we going?
Aww.. But if you never trust blue pilots you'll never get to fly with me..
Lol
EDIT: I do however take alternate routes without saying and sometimes land in a different area to the designated LZ if the area is hot. But it's only because I tend to know what my helicopter can and can't do.
I guess I've been lucky in that I haven't had people shout at me yet, judging by your posts.. :/

And don't put troops on top of buildings, if not asked. I hate to sit on top of building without a rope.

Unfortunately it's hard for us pilots to type whilst flying.sentinel wrote:Don't do that. It's like ordering steak in a restaurant, but you get fish because the waiter likes it better. Re: Pilot, where are we going?
Yeah it is, so type while on the helipad, you can even stand next to your helo. This way if the pilot and SL don't figure out where to go safely the squad can hop out and take the alternative transport. And this is rather quick than crashing, spawning and waiting for new helo.RedSparrow wrote:Unfortunately it's hard for us pilots to type whilst flying.![]()

Re: Pilot, where are we going?
Often, I'll be standing around the base waiting for a vehicle to spawn or my squad to get kits or whatever. And i like to watch the people jumping into choppers and taking off. Half the time i'll tell my squad (over voip) to watch a pilot, saying stuff like "Bet you $5 he crashes before even taking off" Then, we'll all have a good laugh when it happens. But the sad part is this happens FAR too often. I've even started to jump out of a vehicle, and leave the squad if i think the operator doesn't know what he is doing, and the SL doesn't seem to care that he put our only MBT in the hands of a nilla noob. Call me an elitest or whatever, but i play for the fun of it, and its not fun to pull up to an enemy only to have your gunner pop smoke and then ask what just happened.

Re: Pilot, where are we going?
Question
has any1 here ever had a whole server population on a Mumble server? Main Page - Mumble
I can imagine getting in to a chopper...almost literally leaning forward and whispering in the chopper pilot's ear..."get us killed and I'll make sure ur joystick hand will never do anything again"

So you would rather us pilots took you back to the pad after aborting a landinig and then type that the LZ was bad?sentinel wrote:Don't do that. It's like ordering steak in a restaurant, but you get fish because the waiter likes it better.
