[Vehicle] Topless HMMV w/.50

Post by Eagle345 »

I was watching this little series called "Generation Kill" (again) and those humvees just gave me a

great feeling. So, i'm on a mission to make one, out of the Support HMMWV's for a personal modded

version of PRSP. I will post my progress here, and if i complete this, it will be incorporated in my

new Basrah modification. This is my first attempt at modding a vehicle so bear with me.
Ok, so what I've done so far
-.50 cal on top
-M249 on the front seat for the passenger
-1 seat facing rear in tailgate w/m240

I'm pretty unhappy with the results so i'm going to seek out the author of the USI HMMWV

you might want to try and get permission to use cheeseman's uparmoured hummer model or find the author of the USI model and just cut away the stuff not need etc?

Well those were my original thoughts, but i have no experience (successful at least) with modeling.

I'm just adding a .50 to the top, and maybe seats in the back. Like i said, this is my first time so i don't want to do anything over-drastic.

So you know the US is phasing out all unarmored hummers besides for SF units. Generation Kill is from the 1st Gulf War if i'm correct.

soucy it's from second gulf war, but it's from the very start so not all humvees are fully armored (also it's an SF unit) but the topless humvee is indeed getting phased out (not the supply one though)

Nope Generation Kill is 2003 Iraq Invasion.

Up armored HMMWV's weren't around at the start.

 Sorry, just had to ;)

I think this is a decent idea, cos surely if it wasn't for all wars going down the insurgency route(RL that is) then they would still be in? Therefore they would still have topless humvees around if the US was fighting for Example, the MEC? Or am i dead off?

After doing a quick google I came up with this:
2008 U.S. Army Posture Statement - Information Papers - Up-Armored High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle

If you google it, more links will come up with the same basic story. There being phased out to better protect the US soldier. You could always do what reaper says. ;)

I don't think that this would be put in PR but it would be EPIC.

We don't even know if Cheeseman's up armoured humvee even exists are a project anymore, he hasn't posted onit in ages, same for his cougar.

The open top humvees ingame do seem rather...odd not to either protected OR armed.

you could perhaps add the mg and the needed construction to fix it to USI's open hummer that is used in pr currently on op archer if you just moddel the aditional stuff and add it as a childobject (thats how the defs added the cover to the trucks or the discobowl to the blackhawk

More humvee variants would be nice, one with doors, one without, topless like this, canvas covering. It's not so much to ask is it? Especially on Insurgency Maps.
