Well, now that we know the BF series is going to die, let's hope ArmA2 lives up to expectations.

'[R-DEV wrote:OkitaMakoto;926222']Bad Company was garbage in my mind. Had a field of view of like 45 degrees it seemed. I felt like I had someone cupping their hands on both sides of my eyes the entire level.
The characters were kinda interesting [I give them that, I liked them after just a demo level] but the gameplay was lame. OMG artillery run in and blow it up, OMG a tank shoot it, OMG explosions.
The lame grain effect was really annoying too... played it on PS3 if that changes anything...
Maybe DICE modified the Frostbite engine for PC? We´ll see..but implementing OLD game maps in a new game?
Ok = if demo.
Retail = I wont buy it.
Possibly unlocks and ranks and..no, it smells. But looks VERY good agree.

Re: New BF games announced
It looks like BF21943 is download only, so it looks like its a glorified demo?
That would explain there only being 3 maps. There is not mention of the player numbers for BFBC2 - it only says 24 players for BF1943, which I suspect will be a reduced price/free game.
Also the 24 player limit may simply be the limit on consoles, as they struggle with more players. The frostbite engine can support upto 96 players iirc, so I suspect that on the PC version, the limit will be at least 64 players - if not more. It would be a major fail for DICE to release a new BF PC game with less than 64 players, and they know that.
BTW Dont be so negative guys - most of you sound like a bunch of whingeing children.

When BF2 came out it pushed the limits of the hardware at the time. Its only recently that daul core processors, and significantly faster gfx cards have become widespread, which now allows improved gfx etc. If they had released a clone of BF2, maybe a year or two ago, and simply called it BF3 - all you complaining f***tards would have be the first people to cry.Longbow* wrote:We are waiting for new BF game for almost 3 years...we have a right to be negative and whiny![]()
In the last 3 years, they have developed a completely new engine, and released several other games - DICE isnt that big a team - give them a break ffs!

Somehow BF1943 reminds me of that Battlefield Heroes. You know, that presumably scrapped/forever delayed attempt at a "free" Battlefield game.
YouTube - Battlefield 1943: Pacific Trailer
Watch the HD trailer closely. Around 0:27 - 0:29... that guy on the right runs exactly like the cartoon characters in Heroes!
Plus, with only 24 person multiplayer, 3 maps, and for download only. BF1943 already smells like either a glorified demo or the remnants of the Heroes project.

This game might be coming out as there will be a new Band of brothers set in the Pacific. Maybe there are just trying to cash in on timing.
Taking on COD sounds like a bad idea.

Actually, I'll wait to see how it's priced. If it's about 15-20 american dollars, I might be willing to except it as a "mini-BF". If they charge the regular price ($50) for the game, you can forget it.
Let's just hope the up the player cap for BC2

I thought the same initially, (based on the player models), but Heros is based on the BF2 engine, and the grafix on the trailer look like theyre from the frostbite engine.DesmoLocke wrote:Somehow BF1943 reminds me of that Battlefield Heroes. Already rumors flying around saying it'll be free on the Xbox marketplace... A quick Google search did not turn up anything to either confirm or deny the rumor however.

Apparently, Battlefield Heroes is back online. I just signed up for the beta.

A large amount of news today. I wonder if it's due to the economy, EA laying off thousands of workers, and the Q4 earnings/loss report. Probably....
