Re: Who is MEC ?
To the OP (and others)
Jew = People who are born to a Jewish family or follow Judaism
Arabic = Language
Arabia = Geographical Region
Be careful not to mix them up!
I would hardly think that Jewish people living in
Australia would go to join the MEC cause. (Less than 50% of
the worlds population of Jews actually live in Israel)
So the question that I believe is really being asked by the poll is:
Which countries do you think could be members of a Middle Eastern Coalition?
IMO The original BF2 MEC was modelled around Iraqi Military Forces, but
due to the sheer lack of size a larger organisation was required.
So who cares it's fictional!

DO NOT PUT TURKEY IN MEC, Turkey is affiliating itself more to the EU/NATO than to any other faction. Turkey is also it's own very strong military (one well known in the world too) so do not bunch turkey with MEC, not the same.

1. I didn't say a word about their equipment.Kruder wrote:What happened to Suudi Arabia's f-15s,apache's,abram's,Humvee's,c-130's,AWACS,Tornado's?(not a few, they have a large number of these mentioned).Have you ever looked for what equipment S.Arabia army uses, all of them are NATO equipment, and most advanced ones i might say.So they switched back to outdated russian equipment in 2 years??
Whatever you think of an extremist islamist monarchy or how much support is given to Al-Quedia/Muslim Brothers/etc. in means of money and personal by Saudis didnt matter, wont matter.S.Arabia is #2 ally of USA in middleeast will stay like that for a long time.
Arabs and Persians had never had strong relations for long time with each other through out the history, never.
Also i think you put Turkey too among the MEC lines, well check TAF equipment also, all of them are NATO, for with some mid/low level developed local equipment. Also Turkey is a strong ally of Israel(neither proud nor regretting),and TAF equipment are being modernized by IDF(worth of billios of dollars since 10 years),Turkey is also one of the biggest buyers of jsf f-35 fighet(around 110)i am sure someone might mention some things our current president say about current conflict,if you do i'll go deep into that subject.
P.S:Most of the time, equipment chosen by a state for her armed forces is a big clue of the enemies and alliences as you know.
Whatever you think,Arabs cannot form a single allience, especially with Turks and Persians among them against USA,they didnt even form it with USSR backing them up 30 years ago.Muslims vs. Christians is not the issue in middleast, since 1000 years...
2. From what I've read, Saudi Arabia's alliance with the US comes from its government, not its people. In the story I wrote, the Saudis are overthrown by a widespread rebellion emboldened and strengthened by Iranian assistance.
3. Arabs and Persians are not mortal enemies as you believe. Doing a bit of research shows that relations between the two have been mixed historically and improved in recent years.
4. I think we can all agree that Turkey is not part of the MEC.

Re: Who is MEC ?
i reckon its a combination of anti western, ex soviet funded Arab countries. maybe with some wealthy members, such as the UAE, that are forced in to the coalition.

Re: Who is MEC ?
I have the ultimate theory! I voted arabs and persians, since Kashan desert is in Iran, according to google maps. Otherwise i would say just Arabs. And so i would say that MEC is the Arab League Arab League - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia AND Iran.
But all the african lands in the Arab league doesn't necessarily have to be in the war, since no MEC battlefield is west of Libya. Google Maps

Re: Who is MEC ?
1)I didnt only mean where the hell those NATO equipment go but also said that: equipment gives away your possible enemies,or at least long term allies ,for both sides(in this case, USA).So its definitely the biggest clue, country becomes dependent on her ally for spare parts and maintanence,in Sarabia case, they dont even have much non anglo-saxon weaponry(a few eurocopters). So they cant wage a war against US/Israel based coalition, even if there was a revolution/coupe,changing goverment to anti-US,they'll have to wait for at least ten years to change their equipment say:supply, training, getting experienced with it,spare parts, maintenance, training of qualified technicians and so forth)Cobhris wrote:1. 2)Most of the wealthy countries of ME dont posses that kind of revolutionist or idealists or extremists, with capacity of overthrowing pro-West dictatorships, public tranquilized with support given to islamic terrorists, strict sheria laws(both keeping the pressure down),wealth and luxury e provided to them.Public having a say in Sarabia is not the case, wont be for the forseable future. So its kind of irrelevant what public thinks there...
3)Arabs and Persians had always had conflict of interest with each other,i didnt say they hate each other racially, but logic based, just like USSR and USA had.
Fine examples:Iran-Iraq war and support given to Iraq by Arabs, despite the fact that Iraq being a secular dictatorship and Iran being an islamic republic/goverment
Arab states(most of them) shutting the hell up as Hamas(because Hamas-which has strong relations with Iran) is being targeted by Israel, same goes for 2006 Lebanon war(Hezbollah=Iran)+secterian violence in Iraq.Only exception is Syria, and Syria is being governed/under dictatorship by/of a minority called Alaouite, which is a subsecterian of Shiites(Overwhelming majority of Iran population are Shiites)
4)ok
P.S:Cant believe,i posted that much stuff on a subject like this,i think i should rest my case and stay away from this topic.

I bet there is some Dice/EA Dev, laughing his *** off at this thread.
I voted for Arab, purely because they speak Arabic. I don't get why everyone is so interested in a storyline and making sure all the i's are crossed and all the t's are dotted. This is a fictional set up of countries going to war at random and no strategical value areas and in no particular order. Yes a storyline would be nice, but as you can probably tell from the battlefield 2 Single Player, there was never meant to be one

Re: Who is MEC ?
That is exactly why. DICE didn't even give a reason for the war. People are curious, they want to know why a bunch of Middle Eastern countries are at war with NATO, and why the US is launching a full scale invasion of China.Scot wrote:I bet there is some Dice/EA Dev, laughing his *** off at this thread.
