If you're getting rolled over by pilots though then you deserve what you get. Create some sort of benefit for the team for Pilots to run back home and you'll see more people do it, but no weapon, not even a knife is a death sentence to the few who do bail out after getting shot down.

2 Reasons people did this.

- Pistols matched rifles in 0.8 because of the deviation the rifles had.

- This is a game.


As I think codered put it himself once. You can´t code noob.

The removal of the weapon is the wrong move imo, but hey, at least its more realistic right? :neutral:

Any "pilots" that got shut down and suicide should not be able to fly again in the same round.I would love to see 20 tickets (at least) for the loss of any aircraft.Another 20 for every pilot (kit) killed on the ground.Would make people think twice before dumping the transports
and going Rambo with a pistol.They do it once maybe twice then get kick voted for loosing 40 tickets.That is the best way imo tickets,tickets,tickets.Punish the team -the team will punish the (dumb)
player.I guarantee you he'll actually think next time.


P.S.
Can't say I agree with taking the pistols away -I do understand the reasons but....just can't

Imo a better idea is to make anyone killed on foot with the pilot kit have like a 5 minute respawn time or so, plus negative points or similar.

That way you definitely think twice, because you might not respawn in time for the next aircraft and you go and hide.

Punishing the team as you said socketman is a very bad idea for the simple reason that there are people out there who simply don´t care and will disconnect straight away, so the only ones who suffer are us good players.

If someone comes, crashes team's air assets and "takes off" (disconnects)
Admins should ban him for 24 hours or even more.If he is "chronic" ban permanently.

It might sound bad and harsh but it does work.Not many people
would come back after a temp. ban and behave the exact same way they did before.

It's a team game:the team wins or looses.As cheesy as it sounds there is
no "I" in TEAM. :razz:
Punishing the players individually leaves room for another one, and another,and another (stoopid player)

Knowing that your actions (as an individual player) would impact
the others can make real wonders.Many (say they) don't care about them selfs (whether it's true or not is not that important) not many would say they don't care about the team,it's usually the exact opposite.
Humans go figure. :-P


5 minutes to re spawn sound great.
The fundamental problem imo is the 1 man pilot squad -anyone can do it and they do.
Making it 3 (people) or more minimum to get the pilot kit should really help.
I have to say the "per asset" ticket punishment is one of my favourite
additions in 0.85
It will take some time,but this improve the game play a great deal.

Hey, hey, I've only done that when I'm having such a bad day flying, that I've shamed myself to the point that I don't even want to show my face in the server for a while :p

But I think Alex's got a point, stop pilot squads, sure, but don't leave the pilot defenseless. If Helicopters get the proposed "disabling", where people will have a chance to escape before it blows, then pilots would finally be able to survive most crashes and have a reason to get back to base, though would need to defend themselves as well. Also giving them a higher ticket value (like 3 instead of 1), it would also reflect that pilots are more "valuable" in the sense that it takes so many more resources to train them.

beautiful...simply beautiful...and finally spec ops kit is gone. one question when it says you pick up the enemy's helmet and gear does that also apply for insurgency?

Its great to see pilots that successfully eject run away, hide, and evade enemy then make there way back to base for once...So far its a plus in my book. Only thing I would change is adding a 30 min respawn for the pilot kits...all the pilot kits.

This would surely piss off so many who enjoy the hardware. And most of them already feel that the PR devs neglect the fact that air is so underpowered. But hey I am a inf whore and rarely do anything in air. Do some apc action though. But I think 30min spawn time on pilots woudl be a bad move and will only make things worse. Smactards watiting for jets with pilot kits and those who wanna learn how to fly in a multiplayer session or those who can will not be able to support the team.
