punk buster problems

thanks but how do i update punkbuster
also with all the other BF2 and BF2142 i dont need to change my anti virus

Hate to say it but, a simple "punkbuster' search on the forums brings up this invaluable link:

This part worked for me after many months of frustration (I came very close to giving up PR because of PB):

If this does not work try the following steps:
1. Download pbsvc
2. Start pbsvc installer, you should see options for install, uninstall, test.
3. Run the Uninstaller
4. Restart your computer.
5. Start pbsvc installer again, this time choose install.
6. After pcsvc installs, click the "test" option to check the punk buster install you just did.
5. Make sure it comes back "all green"
6. Create a pbsvc installer shortcut AND pbsvc program shortcut on your desktop.
7. Run pbsvc the program (shortcut on your desktop) add BF2 to the games list, then hit update.

I had this problem a lot on normal BF2, fixed it by deleting the PB folder from the bf2 directory and then just running pb setup

ok thanks everyone i`ve updated PB and started playing.

for handshacking, pb fix dident work for me, so what i do is i load a map about 5% and then esc back to the menue and load a server i wanna play

this is what I do

go into your bf2 directory the main one in _drive programfiles eagames battlefield 2

then go into the pb folder

then make a shortcut of pnkbstrB place that on the desktop (on xp right click send to desktop)

start PR normaly when you get to the login screen then alt-tab

double click on the shortcut you just made and bam no more stupid PB problems
