They speak classical Arabic - the type found in newspapers and on tv (not the language you will hear actually spoken in any arabic countries).
It would be great if the MEC spoke more contemporary Arabic (for example Egyptian dialect)
But at least they don't mention "Starlight at this location", as far as I know

As far as my knowledge about Arabic reaches (I'm a halfblood, half Dutch, half Egyptian. I feel Dutch tbh, although some people don't feel the same about that..) They speak Middle Eastern Arabic, I know this because I understand most of the lines. Mostly spoken in North Africa (Exept from big parts of Morroco, they speak berber over there) and the the Palestinian region, such as Libanon and Syria.JDMT wrote:Does anyone know what Language the MEC speak?

Re: What language do the MEC Speak?
Every Arab country has their own dialect. An Egyptian will have difficulties understanding someone from Morocco.
All Arabs, if they have a minimum level of education, should be able to communicate though, by talking classic Arabic, although it would be a very unnatural way of talking.
Many non-Egyptians though, will probably understand Egyptian Arabic, since it has been widely propagated in the Arab world through the televised soap operas from Egypt.
Quite often, if you hear Arabic in a movie, it will actually be Egyptian, unless the movie was filmed in Morocco and local Extras where used.

Ah, again Salah ad Din
. May i ask where you're from, and where do your roots lay? The thing with the Morocco Berber is too different from Arabic. It's a language of it's own.

Yah, Berber has not a lot to do with Arabic. I meant Moroccans speaking the moroccan dialect of Arabic. Berber is a whole different story.
I'm a German, and I practically know no Arabic. But I have Arabic relatives.

Re: What language do the MEC Speak?
I'm my self Moroccan and lived several years in Rabat and the big part of Morocco speaks Arabic, Berbers is only used in some regions like (the rif and souss) Berbers it self got a lot of variants and not really spoken in the whole country. A big part from the immigrants in the Netherlands are from the Rif and mostly from the countryside thats why they only speak BerbersMCI wrote:As far as my knowledge about Arabic reaches (I'm a halfblood, half Dutch, half Egyptian. Just a quickie
Is it possible to insert
La illahu illalah into insurgent or Taliban faction?
It means there is no other god but Allah (a standard slogan on all pro Arab rallies in London)
as well the infamous Allahu Akbar! (God is Great! ) to replace the go go go in como rose

I thought it was Mecabic?
It's a good thing that they speak classical Arabic if like has been said that it's a kind of blanket Arabic nation language though. It kinda sounds like the equivalent of Latin to Italian, Spanish, French etc, although a bit more widely known then Latin is nowadays, is that about right?

They're Arabs, Persians are from Iran (and a few other nearby countries maybe?). Historically Arabs and Persians haven't got on very well either as far as I know, I'd like to think that it's become less of an issue but I don't really know a great deal about it.Bullet Rush wrote:the MEC are persians .

Re: What language do the MEC Speak?
Well, considering that BF2 has MEC maps in Iran (Gulf of Oman) and Afghanistan (Road to Jalalabad), I think it's safe to say that the MEC was originally intended to span virtually the whole Middle East minus Israel. But AFAIK, it's not possible to have multiple languages for one faction.AnRK wrote:They're Arabs, Persians are from Iran (and a few other nearby countries maybe?). Isn't Gulf of Oman based in Oman? It's still Persian, but not IranCobhris wrote:Well, considering that BF2 has MEC maps in Iran (Gulf of Oman) and Afghanistan (Road to Jalalabad), I think it's safe to say that the MEC was originally intended to span virtually the whole Middle East minus Israel.
