Russia what side?

Hey every one, as most of you know, Russian forces are now part of the game. They are playable in 3 diffrent maps, but all against Rebel Forces. But when the new release comes with new maps what side do you think russia will take part of? Will they fight with China and MEC against Britan and the US maybe they will fight with them. Or will they be neutral and fight against their rebels?

Hmm, tricky question. I heard when German forces will come they will fight against the russians. Germans are allied with UK and US but that doesn't necessarily make the russians allied with MEC right?

I thought bf2 was hardcoded to only have 2 sides, not 3. if this is the case then i think they could make Russia allied with MEC and PLA, then make the Chechen rebels allied with US and UK so the Russians could still fight the rebels. With this though Russia would not be able to fight PLA.

Although, Russia is sort of considered to be a "good" faction. (GB or US) Because If you play as MEC one round, the next round (if you switch teams and if it's a Russian map) You will be Russia.

Seriously. Amis and Russians spent the whole post-WW2 era just waiting for the day they would be fighting each other. You deserve to get some Russa vs. USA maps in PR, imo.

And we have people working on Germany vs. Russia maps - putting Ivan against whole of NATO.

Could you say that Russia is against everybody? Havn't they joined some kind of NATO-equivalent together with the Chinese and central Asian states?

the two sides were a skripting problem of PR that had been fixed, also not happening in vbf2 it is very possible to have MEC and China fighting against each other

Well where to put Russia ? Historically they pretty much kept out of wars, unless attacked. Hitler helped Stalin kill off some more Russians, then there is Afghanistan, thats about it, no ? Maybe we should reconsider too many factions. Now you want to add the Germans too ? If one has a favourite faction, like the brits or the Americans, then there might be only like 2 maps on the server where he gets to play as said faction.

To the guy above and the quoted guy, history fail. The had the warsaw pact. If you are talking post cold war I dont think they have anything on that line. Chechens showed how overvalued Russian military is, at least when it comes to fighting like a big modern army without having WWII style casualities.

Right now Putin feels kind of cornered with many former pact countries joining NATO (should be NATO+ at that point) and other countries who would like to join but are not allowed to to keep Russia good.

If you can put "good" versus "good" then I'd like to see US vs. Canada .

There was a 18 page discussion about it on PRT,which you'll see Russian is not on the same side with the NATO.
Dont want to bring subject here but latest war against Georgia(was a NATO candidate) was one of the main reasons to stop NATO "agression" against Russia(n) (hinterland),again UK bomber intercepter crisis,the other missile crisis in East Europe,Independence of Kosowo and Russian reaction + Shanghai Cooperation organistion.

Yes, but it was the 70's. Russia was a part of the USSR. Things have changed. In the 70's people were paranoid about the Red Chinese overrunning the USA. The Cold War was still on. The British had bomber planes, Vietnam was always in the news, Jimi Hendrix was alive. Point being this is not the 70's, this is the 21st Century, things are a little different.

The policy with Russia right now is to sit out a leadership still trapped in the cold war and wait for modern leaders. Putin was important, to keep Russia toegether, but I do not see what he, through the President, can do for Russias future.
