A Muslims opinion please

As a Muslim actually I dont mind people doing that(saying Allah Akbar). Actually I find it funny and hilarious and it adds to the atmosphere. But if someone says "Allah snackbar" or other variation with the word Allah(which means God),I find it a little offensive. But again its not a big deal because everybody has his own beliefs

Just a quick info,Allah Akbar is not just a battle cry,it is even used in the compulsary daily prayers.

I often dread to think what would happen if some sad pathetic busy body got wind of some of PRs content and the wailings that would go on about corrupted youths offending this that and the other etc.

my father and my fathers side of the family are muslims.
still i have nothing against people calling player models chinks or rag heads in pr. i mean, who cares. can't take offense for such trivial stuff. they can lead their life however they want if they use that towards people in real life.

Personally I think its the intent behind the use of a word that makes it offensive, rather than the word itself. Or at least it should be, however social construction of some words seem to have made them offensive to many regardless of context.

Aye that's a good point, good example of this would be a bit of good old Curb Your Enthusiasm, alot of the Jewish guys in Curb are either very lax about the religion, or like with Larry David himself, are openly not religious at all. However the vasy Majority of Jews that wind up on the show are very culturally Jewish.

Whether this applies very often to Muslims or not I have no idea, I know there are certainly alot of Muslims around Yorkshire that don't take their faith very seriously, yet the culture of their religion means they don't drink and stuff like that, no matter how far removed them seem to appear from Islam. All in all there's more to a religion then simply the religion itself.

As for the Team America thing, yeah it's a bit silly and offensive, but the whole point of what Trey and Matt do with any of the stuff they've done is to pick at these stupid stereotypes by exaggerating them. Wouldn't be able to say for certain, but to me they just seem to be poking fun at stereotypes, not stereotyping people and making fun of them if you get what I mean. It kinda works for the stuff they do too cos they always wanna make a point, but they can work with the extremes of an argument, and if you take it too seriously it's your loss cos your not getting the point.

Gaven's pretty much on the money though, there's a difference in intent between just making fun of a culture/religion/whatever and actually having a genuine dislike or ignorance of it.

I don't like the fact that people imagne that the Islamic Fate and Terror are the same (and they somehow connect it to people's collor of skin). I know they mean it as a joke, but I find it annoying. And of course I know Terror uses it as an excuse, but this is not the way of the Islam (means peace). Crusader knights used their fate too, to sack the whole Middle East.

I'm raised as a Muslim (I'm half Dutch, half Egyptian), and I still don't drink alcoholics, and I still don't eat pork and I plan to learn my kids the same rules (without the fate thing). But I am greatfull to my study (and to my place of birth) to understand there is no such thing as a god (no offence to those who do). I respect Jews, Christians, buddhists, every believe, but I believe in evolution (I have thoughts, watch the video).

Just this one comment, since it's slightly off-topic. MCI, evolution does not disprove the existence of God. Evolution and Faith are totally unrelated. Also, you should not "Believe" in evolution, it is not a Faith or a religion.
Evolution in itself is a fact, so you don't have to believe it or not, just as you don't have to believe that an apple will fall to the ground or the sun will rise tomorrow.

The Theory of Evolution (ToE) is a way of explaining that observable fact (like Newton's or Kepler's theories explain gravity or celestial mechanics). I don't know how much you know about the ToE, but in science you look at a theory and if it sounds ok, and scientists have failed numerous times to disprove it, then you can consider it a good explanation of what you see.
That does not make that Theory the end of all wisdom or even "The Truth" (TM).

Believe in a Supreme Creator and Acceptance of the ToE do not rule each others out.

I wouldn't think the insurgents are high end PC users. Nor do I think they own a PC at all. But who knows, some might need a PC to code the cell-phones, although a lap top would be preferable for that. So no, I don't think they play PR. So it's safe!

Last post because this is indeed getting off topic, I know enough about ToE. But I think the Supreme Creator story is the opposite to evolution. And so I'm convinced there is no "Supreme Creator".
