Changed ROE for pilots

Post by R.J.Travis »

I suggest that Pilots be treated just like Civis under the RoE as they are unarmed and should not be shot when outside of there heli they should only be knifed.

Not a bad idea. I wonder what the advantages could be in AAS mode.

It makes sense, I second this. He can be shot in his air vehicle, yet not on the ground. And then a new mission appears : Search & Rescue with proper use of signal smoke.

What about under the parachute though, is this considered a vehicle by the engine ? Would you be able to shoot him without penalty just like a civilian on a rope ?

This is actually a pretty awesome idea :)

Maybe he can't be "shot", but he can be captured. That would make him have to be extra careful to stay hidden until rescued. And if he's captured, maybe -5 tickets and a long spawn time, say 2 minutes. But as there is the potential problem of pilots simply suiciding, he has a respawn of 5 minutes if he suicides while on the ground, if that's possible.

Yea you are right about that, i honestley like the idea, but back in .8 when the A10 is about to spawn and there are like 3 pilots waiting for it, 1 person shoots you with a pistol 1 field dressing is not enough to stop the bleeding, then you got people shooting your cockpits, and UGZOMG its ugly from there, i suggest keep it like it is and if any friendly attempts to shoot a pilot he is automatically killed. Simple as that.

I think you should still be able to shoot them, BUT if you knifed them you would get some extra tickets where shooting them you would get none.

thats a really nice idea

but won't they just pick up the kit themselves and bring it back to their base?

also, isnt there a problem increasing kit bag lifespans? (like how ur revived after 30 seconds with whatever kit is selected in ur screen instead of ur actual kit cuz that died)

I like this idea. Basically, you are under orders to take any enemy pilots alive, and command (above the commander, at the level where the mission objectives are set) won't be happy when they find out that you put a bullet in the head of a pilot that could have been interrogated for info.

So if I capture a pilot, what do I get for it?

I could see this being a problem, somebody grabs pilot kit and gets inserted via helicopter to an inaccessible spot, like a big tower. Now you've got a protected troop giving recon to the team and the enemy can't do a damn thing about it, without getting punished. I understand this is exactly the type of thing a collaborator is supposed to be doing, but thats insurgency. This is conventional war, a uniformed enemy troop should be fair game no matter what.

I would like this idea if there was a bonus for knifing, but no punishment if killed with a bullet.

Or hell, use the insurgent tactic of baiting people. SL orders someone to grab pilot kit and run around the streets looking for enemies, when they've started chasing him he runs back to where the rest of the squad is waiting.

you wont see this happening if the [DEV]s do it right and you lose tickets in AASv3. And you are not allowed IRL to shoot a unarmed man for any reason what so ever even if he has a uniform

Isnt this just the search and rescue? mode that got removed from PR way back? when it was on street? I think. You had the british against the insurgents to get a pilot kit back to their main.

Bad idea.I mean how are wars fought, do people think,oh we signed the genova convention, and this pilot is unarmed,so its best for me not to shoot him so he gets back to his base and bombs us 2 days later.

Giving bonus for knifing the pilot is one thing, penalizing for killing with other things is another thing. Not to mention it'll be civies in 0.75 again...
