picking up kits
had 3 suggestion but i decided to separate them into their own threads so they could be discussed equally.https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f18-pr ... ystem.html - https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f18-pr ... icles.html
1. picking up kits from the dead.
explanation: i feel picking up kits is a bit unrealistic. for example when a medic goes down some one just picks up his kit and becomes a medic. i feel this is more of a specialty than a type of weapon that can be picked up.
solution: maybe make kits disappear sooner, say 5-10 sec. this would also eliminate the picking up other teams kits in certain situations as well.
compared to real life: if your medic goes down then unless you have another medic then your squad is SOL. now i know you can say that every soldier has CLS (combat life savers) training and i think that is represented by the bandage. but we can all agree that medics receive far more training than the average infantry soldier. therefore that is why i think they should be protected and valued more as they are IRL.
some might think this would cross the line between fun realism and to much realism, but everyone has an opinion
your thoughts.....

Re: picking up kits
Question: can kit despawning time be done on a kit per kit basis, so as to allow kits such as medic, combat engineer etc which, require extra training, to despawn faster than other weapons which all infantry would be familiar with?

the reason i would want it for all kits across the board is to kinda remedy the bug that happens when you grab other teams kits and you get the uniform as well.

Uhmmm....... WEll what Might make sence is JUST THE MEDIC pack goes away after 10 seconds but Like in Real life if some one Drops a Specialty weapon you can always pick it up .... Packs should stay alive Longer ..... THERE SHOULD BE ... UNIFORMS WITH GEAR and WEAPONS... YOU CAN BE A MEDIC AND HAVE A M203 ITS JUST A GUN ( IF U GET WHAT IM SAYING )

Hmm, I like this idea, though yeah, it should be restricted to kits which roles irl need special training (such as medic, pilots, (crewmen?), snipers, hat's etc.) since all other weapons (lmg, gls, lats etc.) usually goes into basic training.
And about times for different kits: wouldn't it be possible to do as it has been done with civvies? They don't drop kits when dead so that could be an option.
Although then you'd have problems with requestable kits that falls into the same category as these need to be picked up somewhere.

Re: picking up kits
You could also make the Medic kit requestable ... But that's too hardcore for usual pubbie games.
As for the kit geometry bug, I don't see why you'd remove it. I think it adds dimensions to PR's gameplay and a certain unique fun factor to PR.

I was thinking maybe the medic kit could be like the old civi kit where it disappeared when the person died.

Re: picking up kits
well if the medic kits would disappear then it would give a sniper a chance to prioritize who to shoot first, which is true to real life IMO.

I can understand your idea from the prospect of medic kits and agree to an extent. I give troops a little more faith, that if their medic when down, ie KIA down. The men would be able to still use his kit to patch up their guys to an extent. If this is implemented though it should only effect the medic kit. Because let say your AR goes down your going to get your AR back up and 5-10 seconds isn't long enough.

Isn´t that too much of "realism"? Remember, that you won´t heal a Soldier from Gunshotwounds by putting an Epipen into his chest irl
I think, the Medickit is quite fine, the way it is now.

Re: picking up kits
Maybe this change would force people to be more careful with their medics or have two in a squad incase one goes down. A dead medic should set back a squad not be a mild annoyance.
