Tone Friendly Tags down a bit.
Blue nametags are unrealistic. I suggest they are removed, unless you place your crosshair over them - for teamkill prevention. Currently names show up if you hover your crosshair over a friendly a few hundred meters away, but names of those close to you stick around all the time... Completely detracts from the realism.

well if each character was customizable that would be good, but when all the guys look the same its hard to talk to your guys.

Just look at em and their name pops right up. If you can't look at em, use the squad screen. I was thinking about that while playing today - I knew what kit all my squad mates had and had to use my brain instead of just looking at a floating name.

Not too bad actually. in other games I have no problem finding out who's who even if the tags only appear when I look at them, wouldnt be much more difficult here too.
By the way, with mumble its even easier^^

All nametags, or only blue? Not sure it's so easy to remove only blue and leave green like it is.
In 0.6(?) the distance for nametags rendered was set to 20m, iirc. There was storm of complaints on the forums.
It was raised a bit for next release, and in the meantime the minimap disapeared, followed by removal of the direction-markers on the map.
It's a game, you have extremely limited situational awareness compared to reality. I personally think the drawdistanse could be lowered some, but removed all together? Gee.

I like the idea, a sea of flying green names is a tad unreal and removing them would be far more immersive.
Consider me a +1

Would be perfect if they could be removed and made insta visible when checked from any distance

Just for clarification I mean all friendly name tags.
I understand what you mean about the situational awareness, but in real life I wouldn't know if a fellow squad member was behind a wall or inside a building unless I saw him walk in or he said he was walking in - and it should be the same in PR.

Occasionally I'm having troubles to aim at enemy because of the nametags appearing above friendlies. Though I'm not in favor of removing the markers totally, they are pretty ok now

Hmmm. There are some valid points here. It will make the game even harder but it is more realistic!

up close, those name tags are useless anyway, as you barely can read them against the background

Great, even more "Come to who?!? WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU? WHO SAID THAT? NO, THE NAME DOESN'T HELP ME!" arguments over VOIP...
