Dolphin diving still present
I know the devs have taken steps to reduce the hated dolphin diving "tactic" but unfortunately I don't think it's enough. It's not nearly as common as it was before but the point is, it shouldn't even be possible. Yesterday I got killed 10 times in one round of Muttrah by dolphin divers and it just made me sad.
If possible, the time from standing to prone to being able to fire should be increased even more so that this "tactic" will just make you look silly if you use it. If it's not possible due to the engine then so be it, but right now it's an ugly vanilla leftover that has no place in a game like PR.

I find that it is far better go crouched, I would say about 8/10 i will kill people who go prone, just because it's quicker and you can start firing immediately, they have a second or so for the hold to take place.
Also taking cover rather than just staying in the open whilst they shoot at you is good, try and get a route around or suprise them.

Nothing can be done imo, EA/DICE didnt put a lag time in for standing/crouched -> prone, only prone ->standing/crouched

I always crouch whenever possible but in some cases you have to run a long distance alone, especially if your team has no FB and your RP is a long way from the fighting...I guess Muttrah is a dolphin divers heaven though, with its narrow streets and corners, but yesterday was ridiculous when an enemy would see me 10 metres away, I crouch to take the shot and he just insta-drops and hits me with two in the chest...Was having a bad day overall though so I guess that didn't help with my frustration either...And our team was outclassed and lost the round big...Scot wrote:I find that it is far better go crouched, I would say about 8/10 i will kill people who go prone, just because it's quicker and you can start firing immediately, they have a second or so for the hold to take place.

Anyway, if it's hard coded I suppose we'll have to live with it.

It's also a case of observer effect, I'd imagine. You notice every single time someone dolphins and kills you. EVERY time is painful and makes you go "aww shit... damn dolphin!" (or at least I do).
You tend not to notice when someone dolphins and you calmly put three rounds into him before he's even managed to get a shot within 5 foot of you, because that's what you expect and want to happen...
So you end up feeling like every time someone dolphin dives, they kill you - when it's quite possible that it's only happening once or twice a day to you, when a year or so ago every second death was as a result of some sod hitting the deck and nailing you through the eyeball!

When there might be a lot of close quarters keep your weapon on full auto.

That and don't be afraid of using grenades after taking cover. If someone is prone they aren't likely to get up quickly and move if they lose sight of you. They will often stay right where they are and wait for you to appear again, which is when they usually see a grenade coming in on them from me.Cassius wrote:When there might be a lot of close quarters keep your weapon on full auto.

in terms of deviation, (right or wrong) isnt it better to dolphin dive ? doesn't deviation settle faster when in prone ? IIRC i saw that some where, and standing to prone deviation cant be increased by more than going from standing to crouch. i might just be talking sh*t though and remembered it all wrong.

As long as you dive quickly after moving I think the initial crosshair "snap" from going prone (as in bf2v) gives an advangtage. But I think the real problem is people don't think to use cover when they're in situations like that.

Re: Dolphin diving still present
couldn't the dev's just make the settle time for prone longer and start at max deviation? IMO standing deviation should go back to .8version. IRL it's extremely hard to hit targets at range(200+) standing. crouch should stay as is and prone just max deviation and take about 6 sec. to be accurate enough to hit a 300m target. IRL no one ever would go prone in CQB. and lowering that stutter time from prone to crouch was just encouraging the prone spamming IMO. and im still think all weapons should have a deployed version in all stances....with extreme settle time....i mean if a person is willing to stand still for 10sec at a window w/o moving i think the should be just as accurate as a prone undeployed person...i think its a good way to simulate resting ur weapon on a low wall or window sill.....

Re: Dolphin diving still present
You can't dolphin dive. Dolphin diving was rapidly switching between prone and stand. There is a delay between being able to change positions which pretty much eliminated this an effective tactic. Are you complaining about people suddenly going prone and shooting you or going prone, shooting, and then standing back up?
I mean, in PR going prone is your best chance for survival when caught in the open at distances greater than 25m. It's not as though you can't shoot them while they're doing this.

Even if it is, it's not exactly a huge problem. Nor is it really effective. Rather than continuously tracking your target, aim at their destination.Tirak wrote:I always though dolphin diving was jumping then going prone.

It is and it give the prone diver advantage of being a moving target while having increased accuracy.Solid Knight wrote:Even if it is, it's not exactly a huge problem. Nor is it really effective. Rather than continuously tracking your target, aim at their destination.

Dolphin dive?! What is that. If it's as pointless as bunnyhopping I don't mind my foes to get them selves killed that way, two jumps and you are slow moving target. If I get contact in a bad spot I just dash to heavy cover, man to man engagement can go either way, dive or not.

If the rifles were accurate enough, you would have equal chance as him, since he will always be more accurate with the current deviation, its more luck.

but if they where accurate enough to make dolphin diving obsolete the game would suck.

Re: Dolphin diving still present
Combat has sped up a hell of a lot more since 0.85 - people now run blindly around corners and kill people in more stable firing positions, prone spamming all the way. I'm not really a fan of that.
Edit: I think the stance (puntastic) needs to be that prone spamming has reduced effectiveness compared to any more realistic firing position. That doesn't necessarily mean that crouch and standing accuracy should increase.

Huh? In 0.8 you could run out in the open because it took so long for people to stabilize.
