Cassius guide marksman kit.

The Marksman kit provides accurate fire over ranges in excess of 200m. It can be used to increase the effective range of a squad, or to have a marksman support the squad from the rear, being able to effectively counter attack even if the rest of the squad is overrun or surpressed, providing relief.

The high accuracy is offset by the settle time of 5 seconds. If a map, a jungle map for example, has a field of view limited to 100m or less in most places, the marksman kit might
be at an disadvantage over a regular rifle kit, due to the increased settle time.
The role of a maksman should be filled out by using a regular scoped rifle in that case.

The marksman kit in the desert.

Fiering.

The marksman kit is at its most accurate when prone after a 5 second settle time. Between shots it takes 2 seconds to achieve maximum accuracy.
If necessary the kit can be fired standing with acceptable accuracy as well.

The marksman kit in the jungle.

The jungle offers a lot of cover for the marksman. If he keeps friendly units between himself and the enemy he should be able to provide support without being noticed too much by the enemy.
If the jungle is very dense the marksman should fulfill his role with a scoped rifle instead of the marksman kit.

The Marksman kit in the desert.

In the desert engagements are more likely to happen over long ranges. If that is the case, rather than stabilizing the squad from the rear the marksman should move up level to the squad to increase its effective range. If the enemy squad sets up at an range of 200m or more
the markman kit is particularly usefull, because he can hit precisely, while the recieved fire from regular rifles is quite inaccurate.

A marksman is delivering accurate fire while the squad is recieving and delivering inaccurate fire at the limit of the effective range of standard issue rifles.

The marksman in Urban areas.

In Urban areas the squad either moves in the street, or holds, assaults a building. When the squad enters an area where resistance is expected, or comes under fire the marksman should set up on a elevated position, to clear the roofs and to have a good angle over enemies taking cover. If it isnt possibile he should at least fall back to engage from cover. Chances are the enemy is focused on close quarters and wont pay him any attention unless his squad gets wiped out.
A rifleman specialisti s a good addition to help a marksman set up on a roof
especially because in an urban enviroment the unscoped rifle will not harm the squad too much.
The marksman is ill quipped to clear a buildings, but once inside he can take advantage of his range to engage hostiles far away, and can take advantage of his standing fiering accuracy to shoot outside a window on troops that are within 100m of range.

A Marksman is covering his squad from a rooftop while it engages hostiles in a narrow street and targeting hostiles on roofs the friendly squad is unaware of.

The marksman in woodland areas.

Woodland areas offer plenty of cover for a marksman and a good field of view. Both situations can occour, situations where he needs to support the squad from the back and situations where he needs to catch up with the squad to increase its range, so he needs to be more flexible than on other maps.
Objectives are typically surrounded by trees, where the marksman can set up to support an assaulting squad.

The marksman in the squad.

Since the marksman is at an disadvantage within the effective range of standard rifles, he should stay at least 50m behind his squad while moving. It is better than attempting to fall back and set up when the squad makes contact. If he is needed up front the squadleader can call him in.
While supporting the squad the marksman needs to look for the most pressing threats his squad is up against.
Machinegunners and gun emplacements are a high priority, try to engage threats your own troops are not engaging at the moment, like enemies shooting friendlies from cover or a roof, while your own troops are busy with close quarter firefights. Also make sure to cover the most vulnerable friendlies, a medic patching up one of your troops is a higher priority for overwatch than a friendly wating for an enemy to come around the corner.
