Map Size question/suggestion
In the hl2 engine is possible to scale things down so the map looks much bigger than what it acutualy is, lets supose that the normal scale is 2:2 and you scale everything to 1:2 in a map like kashan desert (4x4km map) you would have an 8x8 km map. So, can you scale things down, statics, vehicles, player models etc... so that a map can look much bigger? or you are alredy doing this?

I think scaling everything down would make the terrain even more jagged (than it is on Kashan, for example).

Plus we cant scale EA models. In order to do that PR needs every single model made for itself

You cant scale models down, there just placed by the mapper, he has no choice of the size of it. And going bigger then 4k is not a choice due to BF2 engine.

Re: Map Size question/suggestion
even if scaling stuff down was a option would only mean that the current terrain would look even worse...

Ok, lol i suck at giving suggestion, if its not here is another forum. I have to say that i keep dreaming about what could be implemented to the game every single night. Later a realize that is not possible, and when i get here my topic... FAIL.

I always wondered if the entire terrain could be modeled as a single static (or a set of them, you know what I mean), and we just fight on top of it...

yes it can, but its not at all flexible and things like overgrowth and undergrowth go right out the window.Expendable Grunt wrote:I always wondered if the entire terrain could be modeled as a single static (or a set of them, you know what I mean), and we just fight on top of it...
