Re: CHICAGO HARDCORE, INSURGENCY, TRAINING SERVERS (USA)
Just joined and swiftly disconnected from your server after being verbally attacked by two people in a locked 2 man squad, both solo'ing APC's.
They were sat right outside Fallujah main base gate in an APC EACH, happily shooting away at anything that moved. When asked about it they claimed to be defending the main and to look at their kills. Obviously, the insurgency game mode has nothing to do with kills and assets like the APC's are needed to get the troops places and provide support in the field. After much "noob" abuse and told to go back to "vanilla" (ironic) I decided to quit.
Having read your rules it seems they were breaking the solo'ing asset rule quite blatantly. Just wondering if this is something to expect on the server?
The main idiot was ch NB-CO-DELTA-COMMAND and the other DeltaTwentyOne.

Re: CHICAGO HARDCORE, INSURGENCY, TRAINING SERVERS (USA)
Sorry Rico, no this shouldn't happen. I'm assuming no admins were signed in or it would have been taken care of. What time did this happen? (US) And thanks for the names. I'll be looking for them.

Re: CHICAGO HARDCORE, INSURGENCY, TRAINING SERVERS (USA)
This was at about 11.30am GMT, literally just before I posted my reply. There was an admin on the insurgents, but I had only just joined the server and wasn't sure how it would go down by calling him. Thought I'd check your rules etc first.
Glad to hear this isn't the standard of play, as have heard good things about the server and will check it out another time.

Re: CHICAGO HARDCORE, INSURGENCY, TRAINING SERVERS (USA)
I had a similar problem. I set traps, clearly marked them, typed out "Traps down, check the marks on your maps to avoid them, walk carefully". Within a couple of minutes, someone ran straight over one, got blown sky high, punished me. A minute or so later, runs to exactly the same place, other side of the road, walks over the other grenade trap, punishes me.
I say "hey, don't punish me for your mistakes!" He says "If you use traps, you've got to expect team kills." Well, yes, teamkills; not punishes from sulky vindictive kids who are too busy going rambo to watch their step, check their map, or listen to their team-mates. Calls me a "noob" (yeah, because I'm the one charging into traps miles from spawns that are clearly marked)...
Clearly that's abusing:
(...) Your punishes count, use them for when it matters
Intentionally forcing a TK, even "accidentally" forcing a TK, should get a player warned; as long as traps aren't placed in stupid locations like right on top of spawn points, or blocking the only entrance in/out of key buildings/compouds, then friendlies detonating them is like friendlies 'accidentally' blowing caches or 'accidentally' going on civvy-massacring rampages.

Glad to hear it Rico !
Ace42, We can only suggest people don't punish for accidents, we can't make them do it! I feel your pain however I've been kicked from my own server by auto admin for the same thing! The grenade traps have been causing a lot of this. It comes down to players punishing YOU for THEIR stupidity.

Re: CHICAGO HARDCORE, INSURGENCY, TRAINING SERVERS (USA)
Yah, I certainly wouldn't hold it against you guys, I enjoy playing on your server. I just figure that the more people say "HOLD ON, THAT'S YOUR FAULT!!!", and the more people concur, the more it will spread as a meme until it's accepted wisdom. ATM people are so ambivalent about it that people feel JUSTFIED in punishing you. Until the community at large says "noooo, that's YOUR mistake!", it will just continue to be an issue of contention. Treating *egregious* trap-death as being the same as forcing a TK (say for a plane, as happened all the time in vanilla) would soon foster a community culture of responsibility and carefulness IMO.'= wrote:H[=Viper;934021']

Re: CHICAGO HARDCORE, INSURGENCY, TRAINING SERVERS (USA)
Since Project Reality has had the Message box advertisement when you log into regular BF2 Game, which is great for the PR Mod, it has brought a influx of BF2 players into the PR community and servers. So the first week of all these new players that came to PR from BF2, I call HELL WEEK for PR admins, but at the same time after the first week of the message about PR, I have noticed quite a few new players are trying to learn the mod and how it works, which is great, but we still have alot of work to do to get back to how all the veteran PR players are use to when it comes to PR gameplay. Hopefully soon we will have our servers cleaned up of all the bad players and get back to teamwork and respect for each other.

It's the sad truth. People get tked and instantly press punish before waiting for an appology or even knowing what happened. Nobody wants to admit to their own failings so they put it on others. It is just something we must adapt to and go on.

Do you guys have your own mumble server? I see a channel on the official PR mumble server, but nobody is ever on it.
