Firebase Madness

Post by sentinel »

Have you noticed that squads make firebases with awesome defenses, traps and wire and then leave them undefended. Whats the point of making a firebase when soon as you leave an insurgent sneaks in and stabs the radio.

And another thing when a soldier gets wounded near a firebase they use the crates to refill field dressings and heals himself this way. Ammoboxs run out easy do this, then the HAT guy comes for a new missile and no ammo left. Could there be a first aid station on the firebase that would slowly heal the wounded or something similar.

Well, a FB will eventually be abandoned anyway if the fighting moves away, can't really do anything about that.

But I tend to use FBs offensively, putting the 50cals up where the enemy are attacking at that time, so we can just pwn em up. But that's me.

If I'm not planning to defend a FB I don't build anything, it just gives the FB position away.

Sometimes a squad builds a FB preparing to defend a chokepoint, but the rest of the team just charges even if they are gona fight in even or disadvantagous terrain, so the FB squad gets bored waiting for the enemies who are busy massacaring their comrades, so they go down and help...FB undefended etc you know the end of that story.

Auto heal would suck a bit imo, you could sit on the FB and get healed in combat by the FB and ur chances of survival would increase with a gamey aspect rather than a realism based one.

I think the idea of the log truck is that there is a constant ammo supply, so that ppl can do the field dressing thing.

And one thing is to just cramp all firebase buildings within 25 m radius, easily visible bomb car target. But I dont know nothing better than manning 50 cal placed to towars a bridge or a road, waiting for enemy trucks and cars.

First aid station could just stop the bleeding so there would be a place to wait for a medic. Although this is would be totally useless if there is 1 medic per soldier like. Very common due the "no kill for headshot factor".

Most squads don't want to sit and defend a position for a long period, which is understandable. What I like to think it give the enemy something else to concentrate on for a while. Also sometimes they get used dependant on the way the map goes.

Remember all of these are players choices, nothing that the devs can really do. Players are hardcoded
