No, sadly enough we probably won't be able to model the Zulfiqar or any other locally produced Iranian armoured vehicle. Havn't found many pictures of the Boragh APC, Cobra APC or Saeqih fighter jet either. Seems like most of these vehiclöes are still being developed, and if we're lucky they will release some more info and pictures in the near fuutre.

The modified Chieftans ('Mobaraz') they use would be a nice alternative, alongside T-72s. Don't know to much about this tank (have been focused on finding info and pics on the Zulfiqar), will it be able to face the Abrams on an open battlfield?

A model of the famous Soviet BMP-2 would also be nice, aswell as the Safir Jeep:

Looks like it's quite widely used and would be good for light fire-support and transport (much like the Landrover ingame) There are also lots of reference material.

The IRGC was mentioned a few pages back. I'd like to say that I don't support the idea of featuring the IRGC in-game, because they are seperate from the rest of Iran's military and are considered to be a terrorist organization by the US government.

The MEC faction is a pretty good long range infantry force in PR. theres nothing wrong with it. but the iranian's weapons i think would be more similar to the L86A1 or the chinese QBZ rifle. they are light weight afaik.
they are modern bullpup rifles designed for efficiency. so the iranian army would be in a very large sence a proper fully fledged modern faction for PR. a match with them versus brits or chinese would play a lot like Qinling or Quai river.

I don't think anyone suggested this was in anything other than a planning phase. A lot is wrong with MEC but I won't get to that again. The facts are the G3 is the current Iranian Army main riffle and it is already in game.

I understand where your coming from Storm-Mama in wanting a faction with unique character, I guess it's a shame that MEC are using the G3 in that regard. For me it's kind of interesting idea (as well as being realistic) that two opposing factions might have similar equipment. Anyway not everything boils down to Riffles and Tanks though as I'm sure you can appreciate. I understand that ultimately you don't want a faction of complete reskins but maybe getting a basic faction based on what there already is could help get the project off the ground and generate some interest etc maybe provide a good test bed, that's all I'm saying.

As you can see the Zulfiqar isn't really deployed in huge numbers, but the T-54/55 is, so that could be used, or the modified Chieftain (below) or the M47.

Post looks like im being aggressive. I thought the Zulfiqar-3 was the most recent Iranian MBT? On your list would it be safe to assume that the MBT at the top refares to Zulfiqar-3 and the Zulfiqar at the bottom, is the Zulfiqar-1 ?

Psykogundam: No, the "Zulfiqar" at the bottom is for all the Zulfiqar-models that have been produced in Iran. Seems like the system is still being developed, hence it hasn't been deployed in big numbers and not many pictures of it have been released.

Exactly, we got enough terror groups already. Most current OpFor are terrorists, isn't that enough?

I wouldn't define insurgents or Talibans precisely as terrorists, some of them may be linked to terrorist groups or use terrorism in order to put pressure on the govt, but not all of them do ; Blowing up military assets isn't terrorism, that's isurgency in my book. Blowing up schools or restaurants is terrorism.

What I meant was irregular forces, insurgents/guerrillas with lower tech and must rely on stealth/ambushes is becoming a little old as practically most maps on server rotations are against Taliban or insurgents, and every single European nation is eventually getting a community mod that plans to fight them too.

So, would the G3 be their main rifle ? Sure the KH-2002 looks modern, sure it adds some variety, but it seems to have major design flaws IRL (recent local-produced bullpup rifles have eventually ended up in trash, critisized and hated by the regular grunt, apart from the Tavor). I really don't think it's going to be issued in the IRIA, let alone to elite troops (whose trust is more commonly into AKM anyway).

well considering the gun has been in production since 2003, i expect a pretty large portion of iran's military now has them, deployment has probably been accelerated even further seeing an indigenous weapon doesnt have to rely on foreign assitance unlike the german G3s which have been in use since the 70s.

Firstly Iran builds there own G3s under license.

Secondly the KH2002 still hasn't entered into wider service and is only in limited use. Apparently it's most likely to go into service with special forces, which as of yet hasn't happened apparently, and not the main army. But even then it's supposed to be shit and may not even make it that far.

If the IRIA gets G3s, MEC will have to get a different rifle or else the faction will look identical somehow. If IRIA is ever implemented in PR, MEC will have to be drastically changed.

I was playing US on MEC today, and I noticed the Iranian emblem on a cuff for a MEC (Rifleman?).


Could this be hinting that MEC was meant to be Iranian????

wrong again, look at it ingame and tell me where it is, it was only there on the merchandice renderings that are a lot older than the release version (also containing completly different MEC player moddels (supporter with t-shirt arms
