Unsure where to put this so I will put it here as a discussion rather than a suggestion ( it may be a resugestion but 5 mins using the search function has turned up nothing).
Since the latest release I have been in and seen quite a few more vehicle recoveries, this is a very cool thing to do, race in with a HMMVV and logistics truck drop the repair station and then defend the APC or Tank until it is able to limp back to base to fully repair.
I would personally love to see more of this, especially on INS maps, so I'm hoping in the next release the DEVS (not knocking your work, it is amazing) will increase the overall health of most armoured vehicles but leave the critical level (where you loose control of the turret or loose a track) the same so it is just as easy to cripple a APC/Tank but if the team is co-ordinated enough they can retrieve the asset and get it repaired at main.

Re: Vehicle Recovery
Ye I have to agree with you in the point thats its a cool thing to recover vehicles...I dont know how many tanks I already recoverd just on Kozelsk...people always think "OMG OMG OUR TRAKS ARE DISABLED FUUUUUUCK GET OUT GET OUT"....and they get out and die in the rain of bullets coming to them instead of staying cool and write a simple "Can Squad X (which has a repair-truck) come and drop a repair-station pl0x"
I mean...the T90 is a nearly indestructible asset on Kozelsk (I just managed to kill them cuz I IEDed the bridge with 8! IEDs ) because the RPGs are not more than peanuts to him...But no people are demb enough to got out after one! hit (tank not even smoking) and they get killed
On the other side Im nearly happy about it cuz always when Im joining Kozelsk in mid-round with some M8s I can be sure to find a abbadoned, half-disabled T90 somewhere in the forest and take it

Re: Vehicle Recovery
I definately agree, especially for helo's
There was a great thread around here saying this specifically for helos with a lovely video.

Re: Vehicle Recovery
I remember the helo thread.
I don't know how hard it would be to do but would add a lot more realism into the game, and then a dedicated logistics squad would be a really valuable asset to a team. + it wold mean that APC's would really need to make sure they stuck with there Inf squad or were near a Inf squad so they could get the protection if disabled.

Re: Vehicle Recovery
yeah
this is really cool
but not only to bring back the armor....now with the trucks people tend to use them as taxi to the fronlines and then abandon them...we did that on fools road as chechens one day:
one full technical moves out of the base
first we secure the abandonned supply truck then the demobilized tank, once it is repaired it returns to base SOLO...the rest of the squad just drive in column across the map to pick up all the abandonned light vehicles and transport trucks....the more vehicles u recover the bigger ur convoy gets...even if nme see u they wont bother attacking a convoy of five fast moving vehicles....once in base u can leave em next to the repair station to repair/reload them....job done / team is happy!

Re: Vehicle Recovery
As an insurgent every abandoned vehicle I find I put a mine under the wheels/tracks. It teaches them a lesson but it hasn't stuck yet.

Re: Vehicle Recovery
I think i read that the critical status is when the hp of said armor / heli has very low hp and this point of disable only happens here aka they cant move the critical dmg point if it had 99999999999 hp it would go critical dmg randomly at around 30% they cant make it go critical at 60%

Re: Vehicle Recovery
There are two values to change: "armor" (HP) and "criticalDamage".
You could set the HP to 99999999 and the critical damage value to 99999998, if you wanted to, and the vehicle would somehow be disabled after losing 1 HP.
The problem is getting the vehicle to actually become disabled as desired, which happens at random.

Re: Vehicle Recovery
It would be cool to see like a rescue like the Warpig mission from CoD4, where the infantry move in and hold off advancing enemies until the engis show up, then they repair the tank and it's back to business.
