Nice. What do you mean by the "infantry rack" though? Also, will you be modeling the interior for the passengers? Just because vBF2 models don't have them, doesn't mean you should ignore the pr ones

interiors are cool but only good for detail, hardly effect gameplay and its like making a entire different model that needs to be really detailed so most of the time, its not worth it.McLuv wrote:Nice. Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
nice model, I can't wait to see it in-game
like Rhino said, the missile is a little to complex, the cylinder it's made from should have no more than 12 sides. The model itself is looking great though
probably the rack at the back of the vehicle where infantry keep their gearNice. What do you mean by the "infantry rack" though?

Just out of curiosity is the interior a completely seperate model to the vehicle? Or would it leech the vehicles poly count?interiors are cool but only good for detail, hardly effect gameplay and its like making a entire different model that needs to be really detailed so most of the time, its not worth it.

The interior is a completely separate model. Basically, if I were to do an interior, I'd model everything that a player would see sitting the the various positions and nothing else.

O I see, just confusing me with sexual inuendo.tmnoobage wrote:probably the rack at the back of the vehicle where infantry keep their gear
Meh, I guess. It'd be nice if it was eventually done for all the models, I guess it's not top priority, but it shouldn't be as hard as other models, amirite? Would also immerse you a bit more imo.[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:interiors are cool but only good for detail, hardly effect gameplay and its like making a entire different model that needs to be really detailed so most of the time, its not worth it.

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
they are not 100% separate, as they need to be exported as the same object, but modelling them, for a APC interior where its not seen at all from the outside, is more or less like making a separate model.tmnoobage wrote:Just out of curiosity is the interior a completely seperate model to the vehicle? They dont leech off the vehicles polys exactly, since the interior only renders when your inside the vehicle as its only part of the 1st person mesh, providing its exported correctly.
Check out the BMP-3 thou that has a **** interior, and the Lynx etc in the editor and skip though its 1st and 3rd person models.

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
now that would be a interesting battle, both trying to capture a neutral island at the same time from opposite sides, kinda like the 1942 midway?

That would be awesome. But maybe USMC would fit better as BLUFOR than Royal marines.
Midway or Wake - both would be awesome islands for maps..

ehhh no, both the PLANM and the Royal Marines are both more "Commando Units" where as the USMC is more a Army Unit with Amphibious Assault training sprinkled on topRedAlertSF wrote:That would be awesome. But maybe USMC would fit better as BLUFOR than Royal marines.

they cant deny the factsScot wrote:Pray to your God no US Marines see that![]()
Both the Royal Marine and the PLANM are relativity small units, espically the Royal Marines where the USMC is far to big to even be considered as a Commando unit, leaving out the way each unit works

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
USMC are used more like frontline shock troops than a purely amphibious strike force like the PLANMC or Royal Marines. hell, all the most recent wars the USMC have been in are nowhere near water.

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
okay so i haven't made a update on my boat in a long time, but i believe that i'm getting very close to completion of the model itself (still need lods etc).
i've been talking to heavy and jonny for a long time, and heavy has been giving modeling advice etc and jonny has been giving feedback on the looks of things and how they would operate in real life. also a special thanks goes out to Rhino for helping with 3dsmax problems and giving criticism throughout the last few months/weeks.
so here we go
enjoy:
side

back

front

top

bottom

attachment and tiller

engine and attachment

wireframes

tri count
2.662 (max at 3500)
I hope that i'm getting very close to perfect here, but be free to post some criticism and thoughts. i want this model to be as high quality and close to real life as possible.
and as heavy has said before, thx for the interest in the faction
