Spotter kit

Post by Tahanatos »

Since the Sniper got the Laser targeter and lost the ghilliesuit a few versions ago I was thinking why not give the Lasertargeter to the spotter.

Since a Sniper and a Spotter should always work together anyway why not attach a Spotterkit to the Sniper.-> If the Spotter kit isnt picket up in the next 30sec the Sniper dies. Something like that. The Spotter could then get the Laserdesignator 3 epipens and enough fielddressings an assaultrifle and the grenades the Sniperkit has.

I also think that both should get a ghillie or at least the option to take one. Not just for realism, but also because it is usefull (I know it disapperas when beeing watched from a distance, but when hiding in or next to a bush and an enemy exidently walks buy it can save you).

By the way what about the Antimaterial rifles like Gepard and Barret? Could you exchange one of the Sniperkits for one of those, with different ammo against lightvehicles/rallies and personal? Of course that kit had to have it downsides like longer settling time, less ammo and louder gunshot

That would suck balls =D. Your sniping then all of a sudden...your spotter CTDs out of nowhere.
You: HOLY SH*T FK FK I IZ GONNA DIE
Boom your dead. The Spotter kit , (I assume this is the SpecOp kit) doesn't exist anymore. And most of the time in PR snipers are lone wolves and what your saying is make an ub3r 1337 terminator rambo soldier with medic, optical rifle, and a means to call in CAS

Well im just talking about the beginning when both pick up the kit for the first time, so that in order to get the Sniperkit you have to work together with someone.

I know that most Pr Sniper are lonewolf noobs who just came over from BF2 and this would fix it.

Since the Spotter is a Medic anyway it would make the Sniper/Spotter team less l337, because you would have less epipens and less healing. The SCT team just keeps the ability to call in CAS, but they need 2 people since Spotter is attached to Sniper and he would only use the Assaultrifle as a PDW, because he is the Spotter.

Snipers can be awesome weapons and tools in PR, but tbh you don't need a GLTD to spot. In fact, the wider view of the binocs helps to find targets more imo.

But I have a feeling that the real reason for the change was so that there were 31 front line soldiers rather than 30.
By the way what about the Antimaterial rifles like Gepard and Barret?
hahhahahaaa, if you played the older versions of PR you remember the slagfests over the m82...not good times.

Spotter can quite easily be Rifleman specialist tbh.

If you find a good sniper, whats in my opinion very rare,do they really need one more kit just to spot enemys??

Im thinking GLTD to the Spotter to make the Sniper work with the Spotter and because with the bionocs it is sometimes hard to spot that head in 800m the Sniper could shoot.

No I dont remember the slagfest over the m82, because I spend most of my time from PRMM till the release of 0,8 in CQB and you can probably tell from the number of posts that I jsut joined the forum.

Yes they need to move after every few shots and they dont carry PDW.
Yes for realism
Yes because a Sniper cant always zoom in and out to find targets and his fully zoomed in few is not wide enough to search for targets if you are for example controlling the hole seaside in muttrah.
Yes because it helps to keep the kit alive for the hole round which is incredibly hard for a lonewolf.
Yes because a big part of a Scouts job is communication and its hard to type whilst shooting the HAT,Medic and Officer of another SQ in minimum time.

This has been suggested SO many times and the Devs in a way have given a spotters kit. The riflemen specialist, it has an assault rifle and a grapple hook which is great in urban areas.

Check the already suggested tread

Remember, that PR represents your typical combat unit, not special forces. 'Sniper Rifles' are employed by regular infantry units daily, on a company level. This does not mean there is some Ghillie-wearing guy crawling around on his belly, rather that a regular soldier has the additional expertise to effectively employ a sniper weapon system.

I dont like the idea of the sniper dying if the spotter dies. But as for a kit, it would be a good idea. Perhaps(i know i'll catch some flak for mentioning this) move the grapple over to this request kit. Leaving the specialist with just a shotgun. And give him the GLTD, trip flares, faction smoke. So the spotter kit would be something like....

-Knife
-M4 (Old SpecOp weapon, could it be fitted with silencer?)
-GLTD
-Trip Flare
-Grapple
-Faction Smoke x1
-Field Dressing x1

I know this could turn into another spec-op kit that every noob wants to use, but there would be no grenades, C4, or slams, so basically it's worse for front line fighting then the basic rifleman kit.
