What about auto-muting people that are not *ingame* or don't have their position recognized ingame (blackscreen dead/loading/select screen)? That'd be way better than making two channels and hampering a realistic feature of mumble (hearing foes talk with each other when they're close).

Spearhead submitted that idea before me tho, I'm hoping they'll try that out..

That's been driving me nuts too, the amount of people who are either talking over global channel or having problems. Yet still use mumble like it's working

Read the friggen installation guide, set it up right or don't use it. Using it like team speak defeats the whole purpose of positional audio.

And... DEVs pls lock settings and relase a PRMumble. It will be great. No wrong-config problems with noobs and newbies.
But then you must have something that checks if you are using the PRMumble or not. Otherwise its not that usefull.

EDIT: I pretty much deleted the entire post, I typed it in a state of hellrising flameness.

Yes, Mumble needs an option to mute everyone who voice is not directional.

KingKong.. whilst i agree chatting on Global needs to be sorted, you were being a right arse the other day. You were more annoying than the people talking global.. being all abusive and screaming in CAPS global chat about your rage for global chat.

You need to take a chill pill. Its a new toy, people need a little time to figure it out.

you can go (create) in a channel where global talk is only to hear at this channel. so all its fine.

what's all this certificate stuff about? I just accepted anyway, but does it mean the server side isn't configed properly?

It's primary function is having squads communicating, and while i agree it's "fun" talking to the enemy, it's both being spammed ("suck on my nuts fag" while being teabagged) and exploited both by folks running it primarily to listen in on enemy, and easily eavesdropping by adjusting settings.
It's sure more 'realistic' the way now, but would work better if everyone had same setting/integrated into game like unnavoidable consequense of using bf2-voip or something.
100% agree with this post but i'm sure it would be tricky to implement just for the fact you dont actually know what team your going to be on before you join a server.

-Well, I think it all depends on how much information Mumble can extract from PR servers. If it can be set to find out the server you're joining and what team you're on, then automatically drop you into the appropriate Mumble server/channel that would be great. I think it's possible to.

-Question to anyone with some knowledge of Mumble; how much data can it get from a PR server? Can it know squad setups, how many people there are in those squads, etc?

I think talking to the enemy is fine, but dead bodies shouldn´t talk/hear.

Hehe, well I think hearing enemy etc is good for "gameplay" but dead bodies insulting living ones, sitting next to them talking etc is a little unrealistic.

Calling your enemy "SURRENDER SURRENDER"... ha.. would be EPIC.

Does the sounds plays whit the ambient, i mean, if you are outside, the sound will "Disperse", but in some places, like Caves, it would sound different, works whit that?
