A Bottom to the Emplacements and some side mirrors for the Log Trucks
Ok I have a feeling that this is a bit of a problem to fix. The Emplacements we have foxholes MG nests ect are hollow in the bottom. My SL in Asad Khal on a quiet server accidentally hit the Wire button on a rooftop instead of the MG button, and we could walk up the stairs of the building and shoot out of it at enemies (hypothetically, we ended up taking down the MEC at the north village in the end so it didn't matter but that's not the point)
You also can set them up on the top of buildings like the apartments in Ejod. Now the big issue is when we were hiding in the holes they would just shoot up.. THis was just annoying to no end.
So my big question is can we put a cap on the bottom of those things without making it so that on a level surface we dont have a giant anthill with a MG sticking out of the top of it? Maybe put it a foot under the surface you lie down on of the emplacement so that you dont have that much collision issues?
Second suggestion, give the log trucks some bloody side mirrors!!!Even if its just the left mirror it'll help out with the giant issue of driving in reverse.
It can also be put onto the jeeps and such. Maybe use a system like the jets where one weapon slot is left while another is right. And on vehicles with rear view mirrors with a view through the back give them one of those

I've experienced the «hollow sandbase» bug a lot. Devs seem to have made assets harder to place exactly for that reason in order to prevent exploiting them. (before we could place them on top of kashan bunkers, now, they can barely be placed on slopes)DeltaFart wrote:Ok I have a feeling that this is a bit of a problem to fix. Would require some work on the models in order to cover the underbelly of those dirtbases. Then maybe make it easier to place assets again? But that's only if it's possible and bugless.
Onto the second suggestion, you can already press C in Ural trucks to have different views from inside the truck (driver seat). The third makes you look directly towards the back of the truck. It's indeed really useful!
However, M35 trucks have this view jagged up under the truck, wich is less useful. I was wondering if Devs would fix this for later releases? It's simple, yet very needed when dropping crates and stuff accurately.

About the side mirrors, can the BF2 engine actually show a true reflection? If it's possible, then by all means go ahead. But I just get that feeling that it isn't, else it'd be already ingame. Hopefully I'm wrong though.
As for Assets having a bottom, sure, if it's possible, why not? I haven't encountered anywhere where it's been exploitable, though it is a bit annoying. Then again, I'd like to also see "within building" emplacements, like stationary MGs able to be placed on windows near Buildings turned into FOBs, though that would require alot of refining.

The only true reflection in Bf2 are the map reflections on the lenses of scoped rifles, which are done with environment maps and reflect a 360 panorama texture from the nearest envmap object in the map which isn't real time, so you cannot see vehicles and soldiers reflecting in it, just the terrain and statics that are always there.

Doesn't matter. Scopes shouldn't be reflecting anyway.

There's always the option of having a 2nd viewpoint of vehicles like you do in jets etc, so you'd press the next view button and you'd have a fullscreen mirror view or something along those lines, just something without 2 different viewpoints at the same time.Incomplete Spork wrote:Mirrors=hardcoded
