i was reading the history of PR, and a post by fuzzhead got me thinking. my questiong, are any of these oldies but goodies able to be worked into the .85 game play? there was a few good maps that provided alot of fun, that and the new game modes might breath some life back into them, and provide the servers with even more options. not the old vinilla maps, some of the larger ones to accomidate the new style of play. any thoughts devs?

in .75 the devs said the old maps aren't coming back because either they aren't up to today's standards or don't work with current gameplay. 10th communit did an awesome map pack which I hope they do again.

Those maps could still be used... Their is a skirmish gamemode now that could use some unique maps... Plus it could provide for new gamemodes that require less space to operate, like the discussed SF gamemode. These are good maps, and if they were slightly updated with new objects, flags, etc., then they would still serve as the amazing maps they were.

The only real way and older map will come back is if a community factions needs a map. But even then it will need to be heavily modified to work and if it will work out.

if you want the maps to come back, my best advice is for you guys to audit them and put up the map packs for them yourself, but otherwise, we are busy with other things such as making new maps rather than fixing up old maps.

So could we have permission to edit the old ones?

I think that was permission ;-)

If you can contact the original mapper that would be a good thing as well. Its there art.

you will need to ask permission first from the original mapper but for just auditing them that shouldn't be any problems, if you want to do more than that then that's anouther issue.

Fixed that for ya.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Community Event Forums, quite a few of the audits are old maps from back in the day, much like Helmand.
