Landing View for jets
First I searched for this so it shouldn't be a suggestion.
After Reading M.Warren's Essay on the Jets I thought of this, Since one of the issues he was stressing was when you flare you can't see the runway very well. So My suggestion is Why not have a 3rd view where its right on the upper part of the front landing gear So you can flare and still see the runway. And that would also fix people pile driving the runway just so they can see it to land.
Also a small suggestion Remove the Stupid barbed wire from the end of the runway(Kashan), I don't see razor wire destroying a A-10.

Unless there is some sort of camera there in real life, why would you need one in PR?

Well if anyone ever modeled the concord, that would be good to simulate the nose coming down. But I think I am with Scot on this one.

You aren't supposed to see the runway when you flare...
It's expertise man. Plus it's not very hard. Also you probably just flare too hard lol, PR isn't a simulator, you don't really need to flare much.

Some airbuses have a cam in the tail fin actually, so its just like outside rear view.
But in real life you don´t always have the best view of the runway.

Re: Landing View for jets
Well, You should just line up your cross-hairs on your jets HUD and then just let go of the throttle and then just glide to a smooth landing..
Otherwise, Its an alright suggestion, I dont think it would help though.

Well I doubt there is, But I also don't think a pilot can look behind him whilst flying. Especially the F16 but it's there anyway.Scot wrote:Unless there is some sort of camera there in real life, why would you need one in PR?

Also IRL they have 1.) ILS 2.) Runway Lights. We don't have either unless someone wants to make runway lights and ILS this is the simplest way. After all the is Project Reality isn't it?

Not really my point... And all they'd have to do for ILS is make it on the hud.Shor0999 wrote:Probably would look **** and wouldn't work right with the engine

Re: Landing View for jets
As I'm assuming that this 'taxi camera' is not present on all aircraft in PR, so NO!
Landing in PR is easy if you've practiced enough.
About the runway on Kashan, it's huge, it's way longer than the Qinling runway so that's not needed either.
Here's my suggestion, practice landing more.

i have landed a hundred times in PR and i never had to flare. and i use a keyboard and mouse. you tap throttle and keep it at 40% and you level out, drifting on the closest part of the runway, then tuck your head between your legs and kiss your *** goodbye.

AI-X has runway lights on some maps, such as Refinery 64. It doesn't look half bad, but I don't think the lights are visible from a distance for performance reasons.Probably would look **** and wouldn't work right with the engine

Cos its that simple right? And how do you suppose an instrument landing system is made for the hud when there is no autopilot or relation to the runway from the aircraft, you can´t even make the bomb huds be on the right trajectory.FuzzySquirrel =US= wrote:Not really my point... Re: Landing View for jets
ILS (search in wikipedia) is only used to guide the aircraft into the localiser 3 nm's away. You are now talking about the few seconds before landning. In that case, ILS is useless- Also, the landninglight is only turned on nighttime on regular airports, not daytime. And there is not such a thing as "landing cam". There is taxi cams and such, but i've never heard about a landing cam.
