Radar Truck

Post by h3killa »

How about a radar truck. Take the logistics truck pack a radar system on it and viola. It has a 10 min spawn and can only spot aircraft and it would only be shown as a blimp(The infantry mini-map icon) But make it dark green like so and flash.

Hardcoded.

Radar is hardcoded, making it only show aircraft does not work, afaik.

true. even now when a plane +it's heading is reported by the time our plane has orientated it's self the enemy's location has changed so the info is no use.

plus you got to think "who want's to sit in a radar truck all round ? it's hard enough to get a comander !

I've been thinking about something in the same lines.

How about making AA dualcrewed?

AA gunner is the same as today, but the driver has a radar. The radar shows only blimps witch might be enemy or friendly, so the driver might say "contact NW" and the gunner confirms.

Sounds really hard to make good. Would be awesome though. I have served on AAA and we had this kind of system. One radar operator and one gunner.

I think the Dev's are in process of designing a radar feature, but I can't know if they have ran into problems.
Oh, I'm going to search for that, thanks for the info. Forget what I said people, if that's correct. Would be awesome for different types of ideas.

The problem is, iirc, that'd you'd see all the enemy dots. I can't remember though if it's possible to simply remove the enemy infantry dot all together, or at least change it to something that you can't see, or not. If so, though, then the problem's solved.

I wouldn´t be surprised if it actually was possible.

Do not call hardcoded what the Lord has made coded.

He did say as far as he knew CAS ;)

Anyway, wouldn't a mobile radar station have some pretty decent range on it? I know other assets are nerfed to get them in with the rest of the game, but this would require alot of nerfing, either it would have such a small range it wouldn't really be that useful, or if it has a half decent range you can easily hide it in the most flown over part of the map and then you pretty much have tabs on the enemies air most of the time.
