If you don't have the Expansions you don't miss out on anything. Everything you need is included in the two downloads.

Hi bbondaloose.

the xpacks/booster packs are really not worth the money IMHO, BF2:SF is ok, but the booster packs, PR offers everything that is in the booster packs apart from the maps, which no one plays them. More people play PR than all the booster packs combined, and some times at peak time, the booster packs and the xpacks.

On ther booster packs quality, quick example, here is the Challenger 2 tank from the BF2 Euro Forces booster pack:

And here is the Challenger 2 tank we made for PR.

And here is a real pic of a CR2:

so ye, is it worth paying extra money for that when you can get a much better one in PR? ;)

If you just want to buy BF2 to play PR, dont bother with any of the booster/xpacks, unless you can get them for free :)

Having the xpacks/booster packs will not make any difference when playing Project Reality btw if that's your main question.

Hope that helps and welcome to the forums :)

Wow, Dice failed on epic proportions. That is malarious! It looks like a cartoon tank!

And to OP..

You can buy BF2 without Special Forces, Euro Forces, or whatever booster packs exist and you can play PR just as well as anyone else. As Rhino said, you will not need any addon-pack or booster pack.

What BF2:SF and the booster packs do is add more factions, models, sounds, maps, etc. The Special Forces expansion pack is actually OK, it is on par with regular BF2. The booster packs are not worth the money. They add maybe 4 or 5 maps in total, with a bunch of **** models, such as the one in Rhino's post. Very, very few people actually play on booster-pack maps online. You will not miss much at all if you buy only BF2.

Edit: Rhino, is that first photo of the BF2 CR2 different than the one we have now. I see no BMG, but I do see a second hatch....

The expansion packs are like PR's *****, just a cash grab attempt by EA to keep people playing and give them more of their money.

PR adds so much more in terms of quality, quantity, gameplay and community spirit than the xpacks ever could, not to mention PR is free :D

Well I bought the whole BF2 series (integral = BF2+SF+EF+AF) for the same price than BF2 only and in only one DVD having all the installs. Should be easy to find in supermarkets with electronics sections or videogame stores.
But if you already have BF2, I say, dont bother buying the xpack and booster packs.. Unless you do want to try them out, and if that's so, the only one worth it IMO is BF2 SF. Armored Fury is a vehicle whoring fest and Euro Forces kinda fails for some reason.

Afterall, the best xpack for BF2, and its free, is PR. :p

Yea, basically, SF is an Ok pack, but even if you're getting BF 2 for some good 'ole pwning, the boosters aren't even worthwhile then. Though I guess the xpack was alright.

If you've got a Wally World close to you they should have it. I have 3 copies...

Walmart.com: Battlefield 2: Complete Collection (PC-DVD): Fighting & Shooting
Just type in your zip code to see if your local store has it.

Otherwise order it online for cheaper. ;-)

I know this is off topic, but keep in mind that Project Reality is more hardware demanding than normal VBF2. However I think your fine, since I run a machine with a video card that has the power of a cracker.
