Fast ropes for transport helicopters

Post by dustinxmolnar »

I think it would be a neat idea to add fast ropes to transport helicopters in the future. Like when you fly and you are being locked on you press a key to deploy flares, or if you are flying the Merlin you press a key to open/close up the back, how about adding fast ropes to the sides of the helicopters? Say you are on a map somewhat like Kashan Desert and the pilot wants to land at the entrance of the bunkers but doesn't have proper clearance? It would be really cool and convenient to add fast ropes.
How would it be convenient, you ask? It would be convenient because the pilot wouldn't have to land. if you are under fire and you are just hovering in the air, it could be harder for the enemy to hit you as you can just take off right then and there. It would also be much more effective than landing because if you are on a map that has rough terrain and trees everywhere(The Battle of Qingling), the pilot can just hover and press a key that will drop the rope. Then once everyone is out, the pilot can just take off right away and not have to worry about landing and possibly destroying the helicopter.
How would this work, you say? Simple. You are getting ready to get out of the chopper but there are people already going down the rope. You would think that you would have to switch seats and press a key just to go down the rope in an orderly fashion, like you would when the pilot opens up the back of a merlin and you all run out of it. I was thinking more of once the rope is deployed and you are in a seat away from the rope you can just hit a fast key to go down and watch yourself sliiiiiiiiiiiide down it and hit the ground safe and sound. I was also thinking of the expiration times of the ropes. You do know that it is not safe for the pilot to be in the air all the time, as a technical or a tank or an AA weapon can take it out easily. Once the rope is deployed everyone should be ready to slide down within 20-30 seconds time. If not then too bad for the infantry group, you just wasted time. Pilots should be supplied with 20 fast ropes once they get in the chopper and just as I said above, if you waste 20-30 seconds and one rope, you will have to wait one minute for another rope to spawn. Now the pilot is down to 19 ropes because you wasted time. If the pilot runs out he can just land back at base to resupply on them along with crates. Oh yeah, about the crates. If you are hovering and you drop a supply crate it might survive depending on the altitude and terrain below, as excessive sliding and bumping into other stuff would destroy it. If you are hovering how about adding the supply crate on a guided pallet or something that can lower it within 30 seconds time. Of course if you want to land then you don't need to worry about it, unless there are trees/terrain/any other obstruction out there.

There could probably be a bit more to add but I just thought that this would be a smart and neat idea for the future of PR. But my question is, what do you all think of this?
