Overly when, like on korengal, caches are very close to the Taliban main command post.

charliegrs wrote:insurgency to me is what makes PR so special and unique. Ive been hooked on it ever since i started playing .5 basrah. however it requires 2 things for it to be fun and although it seems simple, many times no one follows these 2 simple rules:
1. coalition has to look for the caches. most of the time they are marked on the map for you and if not then you need to gather some intel. and stop sniping the insurgents, you cant kill them all!
2. insurgents need to defend the caches. they are marked on the map! just go there, and defend! its not rocket science!
amazingly enough these 2 simple rules are not so simple to a large segment of players. but other than that, insurgency is the best thing to happen to this mod.
You're very correct.

The reason I will leave a server if it loads an insurgency map is because these 2 rules are rarely implemented.
I don't know if any Dev geniuses can come with a way to FORCE the US to search for caches but, until then, I run from the boredom that insurgent maps bring to me. It's 30 seconds of action for every 10 minutes of mind numbing boredom :26_suicid

And trying to coordinate the insurgent side is a lesson in futility.

The secret to good rounds on INS is to play on servers known for excellent team play. TG, iGi, T&T, etc... just play on a server that attracts good players and you'll more likely get a great round.

Last night I had a brilliant round with a mate on Falluja. Our squad as US were doing a brilliant job of taking out caches. The secret to playing well as Coalition forces is to not act overtly. Avoid contact with the enemy unless absolutely necessary. Use stealth and do lots of recon, move through grasses and have fire discipline. You will be very successful that way.

Also, play with a friend. Having someone else in the squad who you know makes it more fun even if its less exiting and it also makes people feel more comfortable if you guys are from the get go being very vocal and talking to each other.

Yep thats what I always tell my squad when Im hunting for caches as squad leader: Do not engage unless its near a cache or they are blocking are way to a cache. Its something I learnt from other good SL'ers. You dont kill tickets by killing insurgents. You will lose tickets by dying from the insurgents :) So goooo find the caches!

That is the same problem I have with insurgency. A pretty well disciplined team one round seems to lose all sense of tactics and teamwork when they are slated to be insurgents the next round. In this case there are also a number of folks who attempt to team switch. Perhaps it is the nature of the beast. Those few times I have been in a solid squad with a good SL as insurgents have been absolutely fantastic. The only problem is that they are few and far between.

I'm new to PR with this version (tried .75, couldn't get past PB). At first I didn't like the insurgency maps and went with AAS since I knew it better. Now that I have a better feel of how the Insurgency mode works I really enjoy playing it, even if only my squad is working together.

I think that's one of the problems with the mode, people don't understand it and don't know how to play it.

Insurgency = goodness. Nice to have variation in the game rounds. I think it a positive to not know where the attack is coming from. Fun to try to defend (although aggravating to accidentally TK the boobs and coordination is sometimes difficult as previously said). It is equally fun to sneak around searching for caches. I reeeally like shooting helicopters down with Technicals. The dead ends on some of the new maps are annoying but still welcomed and time will take care of that.

Insurgency can be VERY frustrating when you are hit and bleeding out, and there is marshmallow NOWHERE you can heal yourself and NO one is playing as a civi because of the ridiculous spawn times and the US side not being punished enough for civi kills ...

I really like this game mode though, but Insurgents should be able to heal themselves somewhere on the map. There is an hospital on Fallujah, how about that ?

Follow your SL around and when your all ways around caches he can supply you with first aid, just ask him.
