Characters blend in with the dark?
I have noticed one thing about bf2 night maps that has really bugged me. The characters do not blend in with the darkness they are like the same default brightness everywhere the go. If you could fix that is would create a reason to use night vision. Thank you!

the ground on nightmaps is very very dark where the static objects are not on most night maps. some have the terrain darker than others.'[R-DEV wrote:KingofCamelot']Malik, do you have Dynamic Shadows set to High? This is known to cause problems on night maps and is in the readme. I was on Karkand Night Ops and I don't remember the ground being pitch black.

I dont think the night maps and night vision should have been released. The Night vision does not look anything like the real thing. It needs to be a little more yellow... and it should not be grainy... more pixelate if anything. The Buildings are black and if we need to make ajustments to our hardware settings then thats bad. I like my shadders when playing day light maps. I dont want to change for every map. You guys should patch .3 and take out the night stuff becuase you dont have access to the special forces shaders mod.

you are correct about the NVG's - check out ATN's site for realistic images. However, I think that night maps offer a huge change for BF2 (minus the SF pack) and the only way they will improve is with testing and play.
So i think they should have been included so that we can discuss them, give some advice to the DEVs and get a better product for .4!
Nice server too!

I agree, Maverick. You can't expect to get everything perfect without some trial and error and experimentation. I'm fine with keeping it in. I just hope if there is a hotfix for something, you guys could fix the uniforms while you're at it.
Great release. Very few cons and all the rest pros. I'd say, extremely Good job PR team. You have taken the potential of PRMM and made it a reality. Get it? Reality? LOL, I kill me! ...OK, so it wasn't really funny. But it made me laugh.

You are mistaken, I used them when filming our DOC for the SF many times. Please understand you are seeing an image that is a picture of what the real item looks like.... its a picture. Its more vibrant in real person than looking at a non calibrated monitor of a picture taken by a crapy camera... or frame grab used for basic identitiy purposes.... but what ever you think.'[R-PUB wrote:maverick']you are correct about the NVG's - check out ATN's site for realistic images.
I agree this is a great mod release... keep up the great work.

The ground for the night maps is always black for me too. Its strange if i look one direction the ground is all black and i cant tell where im going but if i turn around the ground is showing again. I will try to turn my shadows to med like someone said and see if that helps.Malik wrote:I don't like the way that the ground is always pitch black, regardless of if you have goggles on or not. It's hard to see the road most of the time, so you end up driving off cliffs or something. And also, fix the water on Sharqi, currently it's white. :S

I played Karkand night ops earlier and didn't turn on my goggles once. They decrease your peripheral vision and are only really effective when you want to see a slightly longer distance ahead of you. One thing I found fun about night maps is smoke. It's pretty much opaque, although for some reason smoke is a light source and is always white, no matter where lighting is.
