Maybe tone down the blood effect?

I like that it's there, makes it seem very urgent when you get hit, even if it is kind of a mystery how the blood traveled to the face, it can't be from the face obviously since you die if you're shot in the head.
Anyway my issue is that it's smack in the middle of the screen, you can't see anything. "Oh no I got hit in the leg, I'm blind!"

It would be nice if it was toned down somewhat in the middle and we got it around the edges or something.
Just my thoughts.

It is supposed to simulate being combat ineffective. If you got shot in the leg and arm IRL, would you be running around shooting people up, or would you be trying to get away to a medic?

If anyone can think of a better way that is possible with the BF2 engine to simulate being combat ineffective, the Devs are open to ideas.

think about what might happen IRL

you're hit in the leg, you immediately hit the ground as ur leg collapses under you,

you look at the wound to see how bad, could feel worse than it is

a AK round just blew through ur calf muscle

bit of red on the screen don't sound so bad now eh?

They would have coded that you fall down or whatever, but BF2 is very limited

I agree with rudd, you also have to think about that you might be going into shock.

Yes, but doesn't adrenaline take care of that? When you're shot you get a burst of adrenaline so you don't feel the pain immediately or something.
Sometimes I'm not sure where I'm being shot from, which I would irl. (right?)
So I don't know which way to run for cover.

you get shot with a 7.62, your going down... adrenaline or no adrenaline, or even a 5.56 you wont be able to perform as effectively . but with the limitations of bf2 the DEVs cant have it so getting shot makes deviation more, or makes you fall over ect. so the blood is there to reduce vision to get a semi-realistic response out of people (like the suppression effects, not realistic but the reaction from players is)

as for knowing where the shots come from, what can the devs do about it ? personally i can tell almost straight away where a shot come, roughly, from the sound and the cover type of cover i am in will tell me.

I have an idea.....the devs were able to implement camera shake when taking out weapons. What if when you're shot in the leg, your camera drops and angles suddenly, whereas it still looks like you're walking normally to everyone else?

And upon healing, you view slowly rightens itself....just a thought.

The camera moves when a weapon is equipped through the weapon draw animation; there is no animation connected to being shot.

You know, when you hit your little toe while you are going to the bathroom during the night ? You stop all you were doing and thinking about and all that you want to do is rub your toe ? This effect mimic this.

When you get hit with a bullet, you are not able to think properly (unless you are really well trained and have some big battlefield experience), you are not able to return fire properly and you can't really focus on anything else.

And even if we'd ignore the pain now, due to adrenaline or whatever, your leg could be disabled if you're hit there. A bullet though the muscles/bone etc is not only damn painful, but it is a hole. And holes in body parts may disable those, unless you're lucky.
