What cyberzombie said is wrong.

Not all squads will have the patience for a complete stranger to the mod. Especially if they need to teach you EVERYTHING.

I dont mind a person who doesnt know a thing or two, but if im leading a team to victory i would kick you out very politely.

So im just letting you know now that it will happen to you. So dont be frustrated. Once you get the hang of this mod you will understand peoples frustrations about new players messing things up.

Hope to see you on one day.

Yes sirr, this mod has been known to be the best at building a strong unity between players. So when you are on the squad, you will get to know and like your fellow comrades.

bbondaloose wrote:So, is anyone willing to teach me personally for at least an hour on the basics of PR, and stuff that i should know, that isnt in the Manual and Guide? I would appreciate it greatly. The game seems very non-newb friendly, and looks like I'm going to be getting yelled at by fellow squad mates for my stupidity a bunch of times in the beginning.

Don't worry, I didn't just come from playing CS or TF2, and expect to go shoot everything i see.
I've been looking for a game(later i found out, a mod :D ) that had tactics and teamwork required to win. I found about the Project Reality Mod a couple of months ago, but didn't have a chance to get BF2, so all i did was watch youtube vids on it, and later on join the forums.

Now, the game is coming in on monday from Newegg(amazing place). I should have the game fully running on tuesday, but don't have time, so on Wednesday, I have time to try out PR for the first time.

If anyone is willing to help a noob get into the game, I'd be very very thankful.
If your Squad mates are having a go at you tell them to F**K off! i would anyway..

If your in a squad with me (name same as sig) i will gladly run around with ya showing you the ropes. :-)

I'll cleverly infiltrate this thread :P . I've just recently got BF2 and downloaded PR soon after. I haven't tried it yet, but I did read the manual. And as you can see, this is my first post on these forums.

I love the idea of working as a team and cooperating. And I also like to think I know a bit about tactics, so I hope I'll be as little of a burden as possible while learning the game mechanics :P . See you in the fray, I hope

Just really how to revive, i played PR in 0.7 but not since the eipipen came out. Someone said something yesterday about 2 resus then use the eipipen, is that right?

bbondaloose wrote:Ralfidude, That was what i was expecting so thats why I asked for someone to help me one on one. Fortunately, someone has already agreed to go over the game with me one on one in game soon, so no worries on being kicked out of squads so much.
Oh, I thought i'd add this in, but I'm enrolled in NJROTC, Platoon Commander, and Assistant Drill Team Leader, so I actually have leadership experience under my belt, so maybe in a month or 2, i could try leading squads.
If I dont fail completely that is :D
Broski, after our discussion last night I think you def got what it takes to squad lead after you get basic infantry and tactics down. Look forward to fighting alongside ya :D

Btw, didn't mention exactly where I was within the USAF aux. last night. I'm a C/Ssgt as well as an element leader, in command of my glorious three man element haha

Add me on xfire (cfschris) and get a mic if you don't already have one. I can teach you alongside bond.

I'm thinkin we should have some sort of subforum for ingame teaching, where new guys can go make a request for an instructor. Definitly needed with the recent influx of new players and with the complexity the mod has developed!

Hug your squad leader and follow him everywhere, assuming it's a good squad leader. Good squad leaders usually have their squad with him, a rally point, an officer kit and voip communication. Look for those signs and follow him ;)

the chest compressions (resurrections or what ever they are called ingame, CPR) are not actually needed, but there to un-glitch the body. the epipen is just a remodeled shock paddles so work in same way.

but its always good practice to hit them a few times with cpr to un-glitch body to save epipens.

i cannot agree more with this. best thing to do
1 be familure with the manual (not just what looks like or where to find)
2 own / use a mic. if you are not used to gamming with one, you are in for a treat. on another note, many members of the community don't bother with text communications for various reasons, and its also an easy way for some to move others with a mic into thier squads.
3 when you join a squad, ask the SL what load out he needs. instinctive sniper aquirement is not always looked on favorably for some INFANTRY squads.
4 if your not sure about something ask.
5 listen to the SL, if he needs you to shovel for 5 mins then do it. if he dosn't want you too shoot at an enemy when your are trying to flank, don't shooting gives away your position and the element of surprize!

out side of all that. have fun!

welcome to PR.
