New Guy. Some Questions...

Post by Lonestar »

Hey guys,
First and Foremost my name is Tom. So I am new to Project Reality. I have been playing BF2 ever since it came out. So I have always loved games where they simulate reality. I love military tactical games. The one thing I love to do is to simulate real combat. As I want to become a Marine one day. I am really big on tactical situations. I play military simulation airsoft and every game I get my hands on I try to simulate the military. So my computer can not and will not ever be able to run BF2 or Project Reality. But, my brother has a nice computer and I play on his for games. Once I get the confirmation that I can download Project Reality I will which hopefully will be tonight or tomorrow. I had a few questions regarding Project Reality. One was do you guys talk in the game via mic. or in vent etc (Yes I do have a mic.)? Another was I saw a lot of videos on YouTube showing extractions and insertions via helicopters... Is there a lot of this? I really would love to use that to its fullest. I hated playing BF2 online because of the low tactics and the fact that when ever I went to get in a helicopter they would fly away before I could. Another question, I saw a YouTube video(s) showing "operations". How often are these? And, how often is there a large game going on?

Thanks in advance!
- Tom

hehe just asked my brother he said its fine to bad i wont be able to play a ton because its his comp not mine lol, I should have Project Reality up and running tomorrow because he's using his comp now.

EDIT: Forgot to add, are there any teams that focus a lot on tactics? I would be interested.

Communication differs between servers/clans/groups, e.g. iGi use mumble and ingame VOIP, other clans use TS, vent etc etc. But everyone tends to use BF2 voip as the main pubber technique (but mumble is competing with that now https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-pr ... de-pr.html)
Another was I saw a lot of videos on YouTube showing extractions and insertions via helicopters... Is there a lot of this?
Yes and no, kashan desert infantry version tends to have alot, because thats the main way of transporting, but on the jet version alot of players are in heavy armoured vehicles, so only one squad or so will need air transport. It still happens, but its not as constant and its much more dangerous.
Another question, I saw a YouTube video(s) showing "operations". How often are these? And, how often is there a large game going on?
not sure what u mean by operations, large games happen every day. iGi server ran at least 5 maps with 64 players almost constantly last night alone.

There is the entire spectrum of clans, communities and tournaments in the PR community.

Have fun

Hey Lonestar! Welcome!

- Yes there is a lot of communications ingame but it depends on the squad. You might get some squad that won't say a word for a whole round but most of the squad speak ower bf2 voip, ts, mumble, or vent.

- It depends on which map you're playing but there is a lot of transport involved in pr. Maps are big and you can't really "walk them" like in vbf2. Some maps the us starts on the carrier and the only way to get to the land is via chopper or apc. Lots of people like to do transport and extractions via chopper so you'll probably see plenty

- I don't know which "operation" you're refering to but my clan has some operations which are going on a pub server or practicing skirmish (infantry only). We also have some skrim which is a skirmish battle clan vs another clan

- There is plenty of clan out there so you have lots of choice, My clan is called =QTF= and we have training, formations to obtain a specific badge (ex:rifleman, medic, etc.) and it really is a serious clan composed of mature players. I'm sure there is a lot of other clan having the same vision of PR. Just look here for a clan list and pick one :D https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f75-pr ... -info.html

Hope that helps, see you on the battlefield

Edit: Sorry Dr2B Rudd, when I began writing my answer your post wasn't there yet :)

Ehhhh...not always a good idea. There's alot of pissy squad leaders out there (myself, personally) who can't stand people joining their squad who have not attempted to learn a thing beforehand (ie. Playing on deployment on your first PR experience).

Because I'm one of these pissy SLs, this is one way to reduce the influx of 'tards into PR (by teachin em myself!), and that other experienced players should follow suit :D

the operation mode(i think its called?) was removed long ago, i think.....
idk truthfully, are you talking about the black suv and the transport of that? if so that was removed (and i think it should be added agian, i neaver played it and now w/ a larger community it may be a sucess)

Colonel Cool and Rudd have valid points :) Just join squads like VOIP, ENG INF or INF and you will be ok. Go rifleman and follow orders as good as possible. Dont take on high profile stuff like HAT, PILOT or LAT until you have some experience in-game.
