I like it that the insurgent got mines and IED to kill coalition vehicles but if you play as a Coalition soldier you can't do much about it.
So my idea is to give the rifleman specialist or an other kit a mine detector and a way to detonate mines (maybe the new dragon). whit the mine detector in use he should be able to find mines and IED in a radius of 1M so he has to be close to a mine tot find it then he should be able to disable or detonate the mine at a save distance whit out killing himself and his squad members.
The process of detonating a mine should take long enough so the insurgents can move in and have the ability to kill him and his squad because they most mines are places on roads so to find and detonate the mine you should be in the middle of the road and extremely vulnerable to enemy fire.
I think this will lead to armour squads asking infantry squads to find or detonate mines that block there path.

Re: mine detector and mine detonator
I think a mine detector for the engineer isn't a bad idea at all . Especially on maps such as Faluja, where its a gamble every time you walk outside the compound.
1m radious would be too small/too late. Maybe a good 3-5m, just so its worth while.
Ofcourse, for the little use its worth, it all has to be modeled, skinned, UV, light or w/e.
The same as making a rifle for the game, really.

FH2 had/has a mine detector I think. I haven't played it in a while so I'm not too sure.

I think they do it by adding laser objects to mines though, that you lock onto with the mine detector, that also plays a sound. Since they don´t need laser object for anything else they can do it.
